Royalee Still the right decision 3 months on.

How?

We were still relegated either way.

Adkins has done nothing, as of yet, to suggest that we will be any better.

genome I worry what the fans are going to be like if we fail to win 1 of our first 5 games this season, it's possible with new signings to bed in and other players not quite accustomed to the Champ.

Funny thing to worry about. Read a book, take your mind off it.

So nothing that has happened over the summer has suggested to you that we will be better?

Maguire
Ian Royal Most of us who like Adkins aren't pissing on McDermott though. We just recognise the flaws he had last season and that ultimately saying goodbye was a good decision. No one is saying he did a bad job prior to that, even if they are saying they may have prefered him to do things a little differently.

The problem comes from those who won't let go and persist in trying to argue that McDermott was totally hard done by.

Exactly what you said, only completely the opposite.

This thread exists largely because of so many people slagging off Brian and spitting out revisionist nonsense about his time here. I don't think anyone's going to argue that last season was a top-to-bottom fukk up (including BMc) but he enjoyed unforeseen and quite remarkable success during the rest of his time at the club.

It's just totally wrong not to mention disrespectful to try and rewrite that slice of history.

The sad thing is, the same fans slagging him off will be the first to get on Adkins back the moment we lose a couple of games in a row, and were probably the same to praise McDermott as a legend when we won the league. They just see which way the wind is blowing and spout off accordingly.

Except change the playing style, inspire the dressing room and make 3 excellent signings with more looking to be on the way?

Inspire the dressing room?

What... to 1 measly win. What a turnaround, Nigel.

You really do have to be blindly in love with Brian not to have noticed the very dramatic turn around in the players' demeanour from that which they displayed in the dark days towards the end of McDermott's reign. And if you can't spot the visual signs, try listening to what they are saying - and that includes players who appeared loyal to Brian right through to the end.

Oh no. We've reached "visual signs that some people might not be able to spot".

Just with regards to the players being positive now - we met Simon Church in Dubai after he'd been let go and had a chat and he said he thought the new manager was great and all the players were really positive about him and having a great time. He was really positive for someone who didn't need to be. Seems like they've got over it quicker than some nobbers!

Now that the 'go to new post' button for this thread is broken for me, can we close it?

Adkins has definitely changed the way we play, and the players look more motivated than under the last months of Brian, but that could just be a short-term impetus. We'll see next year. If we do end up only winning 1 of our first five and fans get angry then people really do have far too short-term memories.

Technically it was a grammatical error not a spelling error.
