TheSiege I sometimes despair of this site! Jason Roberts cannot be part of our next season because he is'nt good enough - Age and injuries have seen to that. Furthermore, the fact that half of this thread has been taken up by gibberish about racism shows the real problem on this site. I saw nothing of Ideal's original post though I know him to be a contributor who has previously shown good insight into the problems with RFC. From what I have seen he labelled Roberts as a serial Nagger, knowing I'm sure that both a/ he was correct in his assessment and b/ morons on this site would add 2 and 2, make 5 due to their own warped view of the world and would then self-implode. He chose his language brilliantly and has left all of our communist contributors looking like dicks! I would say 'thank God for free speech' but, of course, free speech is frowned upon by the coven of wasters who put most of the replies on the site. If only the Melonheads and etc would talk to each other on Facebook, this could become a sensible RFC fan site in reality. Politics should be kept well out of football and well out of football fan sites!

+1 MELONHEAD OUT

TheSiege Are we all agreed now? Roberts out - not because he's black; not because he's a persistent nagger, but simply because he will add nothing to what we need for the new season and may take the place (or the salary) of a player of real ability or potential! I hope so, Roberts out - thread dead!

No we are not. You have no idea how good or bad he will be if he comes back from injury, and neither do any of the rest of us. Jason Roberts has quality that doesn't rely on pace and he deserves a chance at least.

I mean, it's obvious TheSeige was molested by a family member at some point in his life, but I think it's the fact he enjoyed it which is causing the most of his problems.

Ideal
TheSiege Jason Roberts has been released from his contract.

If only this were true! I almost opened a bottle of Cava to celebrate.

Huh? I simply don't get anyone who doesn't want a fit Roberts to start a season in the Championship with us. Ok, he might not be the player he was 2 seasons ago, but none of us know that. I think he at least deserves the respect of Reading fans and the opportunity to prove himself again.

He got us promoted. You have a very short memory.

The problem there is he won't be fit, he's just taking us for a ride financially. Cashing in. He should do the decent thing and retire! The guy needs a hip replacement was the verdict months ago!!!

Got us in the prem.

He's got to be worth a chance to get back to full fitness really. Don't like the idea of passengers but if coaches and medical staff think he can still do a job for us than cool.

Is'nt keeping Roberts the same as keeping overage past-it players in our Premiiership squads? I thought we learnt from experience?

No. Last time he played for us at this level he was a hero...well, he got sent off, but before that he was a hero. If he gets fit he deserves a chance, and I'm confident he'll turn a few heads.

Hmm. He was The Man last season. Grown men would sob if he missed a game. He gets injured, has a little crusade against racism and everyone suddenly wants to see the back of him.

Weird.

if he's still capable of performing at a 2011/12 level then he'll be a terrific asset but I don't know how much you can expect from a bloke in his mid thirties after a major hip injury.

He's not the most likable player ever but he's not that bad either.

I thought at times he was really good this year - the 5-7 against Arsenal for example. No way of knowing how he'll react to the hip operation.

Yes spot on.

I just don't think he'll be able to come back from the length of time out he's had, at his age, and with a potentially serious injury (no idea what the injury is precisely). No disputing he was a catalyst for out charge to the title in 11/12.

If I was Adkins I certainly wouldn't be counting on his as an asset, put it that way.

Agreed, but i wouldn't be dismissing him yet either.
