Two of our left-backs are free's and out of favour.
Guthrie likely to be offloaded (high earner)
Pogrebnyak a cert to go (high earner)

We need at least:

x1 LB
x1 CB
x1 Creative Midfielder
x2 Striker

Then we're in good shape as long as we don't lose anyone we don't expect.

Pog out

In: Dwight Gayle and a few young dutch players (Adkins found a good championship player in De Ridder last year).

how did we ever win the league with just karacan tabb and liegertwood in the middle
or with just 2 or 3 CBs
etc

A conundrum to us all, including most teams in the championship.

Don't recall staying in the Premier League for very long, but you are right. With a lot of luck you don't really need back-ups.

Let's go with two CB's and just keep our fingers crossed instead.

Extended-Phenotype We get a billion pounds in parachute money. We got a trillion pounds for promotion. We have a rich owner with pockets unscathed from investing last season.

I should bloody hope we spend at least 10m.

- Left back
- Centre back
- Attacking Mid
- Striker
+ replace anybody we lose

If you put off house maintenance for a year, expect it to cost ya double next year.

massive lol at all that

the parachutes are there to soften the blow of all your infinitely larger lost revenue.tbf
and you dont need to replace everyone you lose. squad sizes are always a bit smaller in the chamionship

The blow shouldn't really need to be softened that much though to be fair, it's not like the players won't all have relegation clauses and they weren't on ridiculous wages to start with.

we had aroubnd the third biggest wage bill in the championship, and were losing 11 million a year

no ones relegation clauses will say go back to original wage.

looking at the parachutes as some sort of "extra or free"revenue is a bit off, its money to help limit the financial damage of relegation, to replace alot more money that we no longer get

Which means the wage bill we are relegated with should not be a problem hindering our activity in the transfer market. Good.

No. The parachute payments take care of the wages.

So that's prem money and Anton's warchest for transfers. Mega.

Both Shorey and the club can extend his contract for another year... Knowing the club they probably will for a second LB

Surely had something to do with Roberts & Kebe's new deal, and promotion bonuses etc. It was large for Champ level but sustainable by selling one or two players under Madejski, and supposedly Anton's richer so we can forgo the sales. We haven't seen excessive spending of the so called '£90 million' so we'll have a nice pot of money rolling around for next season presumably. No more black holes at least!

To be fair, Shorey hasn’t been a disaster in the Prem. Statistically he made the most number of accurate crosses out of the whole team all season.

Not difficult in truth, considering all our wingers have been stuck on 'overhit' for 7 months.

Definitely think we should go for one Jordon Rhodes rather than a couple of Chris Gutners and Nick Blackmans - someone with a decent track record of scoring goals all over the place that will be able to make the step up, should we be promoted in the next few years.

Id much rather we spent the money Rhodes would cost on a few players with potential and filled all positions that need it. Left Back, Attacking Midfield, Upfront (assuming a couple strikers leave), Center Back.

If Goodwin is good enough thats one covered, if not Id go for Fox from Saints
CAM I really liked the look of Jasmin Kurtic from Palermo, Jacob Mellis from Bristol City or Sako from Wolves.
Center Back (depending on who's relegated from the Championship Id take Clarke or Gerrard from Huddersfield, Johnson from Wolves, and as a striker Sam Baldock from Bristol City or Billy Sharp from Saints.

If we could buy someone like Schneiderlin was a few years ago then I'd be delighted, but the problem with players with potential is they often don't fulfill it (see Simon Church).

Maybe Rhodes was a bad example, I don't want us to spunk £8 million on one player.

I have it on good authority that when we go down the figure will be £17million including wages.

I made that up, but it sounds good.

Thanks.

Isn't Mellis the twat who was thrown out of Chelsea?

And you've spent most of your budget on Fox, anyway.
