winchester_royal Reading fans are complete mongs. 'It's like having Rodgers back' someone said behind me after we tried to keep the ball for longer than 5 seconds.

Anyway, Arsenal were on top of their game and we're in transition mode so the scoreline was no surprise. We played some decent stuff at times though and it was nice to see the full backs go past the halfway line without the coaching staff going into meltdown.

Patience is needed over the next few weeks, it won't be pretty but I'm confident we'll come out the other side better for it.

Nigel Adkins' Barmy Army

I'm a Reading fan. Have been for decades. Was there today. I am not a 'mong', as you delicately put it, but would dearly love to meet you to discuss your view on "Reading fans on complete mongs".

Am serious Winchester Royal, as a relative of a downs syndrome young fella, I would absolutely love to meet you to talk about your statement

Just FTR in no way am I implying that all RFC fans have downs syndrome, nor am I insulting those that do. Mong in this case is short for mongrel. Ta for the offer though, when do you wanna meat?

To be fair that flick he did in the first half without even looking to put the Gerv through was bloody impressive!

Last year he was excellent. This year he is not. Scoring the goal that got us here is irrelevant if we go down.

Also Federici is sh*t and Guthrie is our best player 8)

Are we not doing BFTG threads anymore? Much as I would love to stay up the thing I'll miss least about the prem is the souped up opinion of keyboard warriors taking centre stage over the people who actually went to the game.

Anyone with broadband can get a stream.....

seriously Manchester Royal you come across as a massive cunt.

I was sat with the arsenal fans today and I noticed two things.

They are oxf*rd terrible fans. 1-0 up, 2-0 up, actually 3-0 they are giving their team utter grief, and I mean standing up shouting you are all a bunch of shit, grief. And 10 minutes to go 50% of the ground is empty. Utter wankers.

parky
Kingsley Junior We will come back with some lessons learned. It seems people expect miracles.

 (patronising smile)
The miracle would be learning a lesson. We didn't learn from 4 years ago why would we learn this time?

Right, so exactly how many of our squad were around at the club between 2006 and 2008 to have learnt anything? Hardly any. As for the management, well sticking with the players that got us promoted in 2006 didn't exactly do too much harm in 2006/07. Hardly any of them had Premier League experience at the time, so it shows you can't be sure how good a team going up is going to be until you give them a fair crack. Admittedly we had one of the best sides ever seen at second tier level then, but last season's side were on an awesome run after the New Year.

When I talk of lessons learned if we go back up in a year's time, it will be with much more of a similar squad and structure in place than we had this time round, four years and a lot of player turnover since we had last been in the Premier League. I'm sure we would add a bit more class/experience in the Summer, and we probably will spend more in January if we are struggling again (we also now have a manager proven to be happy to splurge). Mind you, I don't remember feeling desperate to spend in January when we were enjoying our best form of the season.
