Adkins is not afraid to blood the youngsters so lets just hope we've got some good enough!

The only players I want to leave are Hunt, Harte and Church.

The rest are good enough to challenge for the top 6.

But I feel we will need a new ST, CB, LB and a CM in order to secure a top 6 and mount a serious title push.

Always brings the best out of every strike partner he's played with. Noel could still be a very useful squad member next season imo.

Fully agreed, as has been mentioned before, our recent "star" strikers have always been best alongside Hunt.

If (when) we go down, can ppl see Gorkss making a come back, especially if Pearce leaves? As I recall he nearly signed for Adkins' Saints before joining us so it is likely Adkins is a fan and we all know he can do a job in the Championship.

Move Mapps back over to his preferred right hand side.

Can see something similar to this, assuming Feds, Pog and Guthrie all leave.

McCarthy

Kelly, Mapps, Gorkss, New LB

Kebe, Akpan, Ledge/Karacan/Carrico, HRK/McAnuff

New AM

New Striker/ALF

Can't see any way barring injury that Morrison won't feature heavily and be a very good centre half in the Championship

no idea why people want to lose nhunt. i know he is out of contract but he is easily good enough for a 2/3/4th choice strioker in the championship.

the majority of our players are good enough for week in week out prem football, this is a fact. However I reckon Pearce would leave and go as back up for a prem team, also Guthrie and Pog would feel that they could play at a higher standard, but not done enough this season for any other team to be interested. Feds also a possibilty to leave, wouldnt be to bothered as long as McCarthy stayed.., Roberts also will probably leave, wouldnt be surprised if he were to retire

Blackbag Dont bite my head off but next season if McD goes would Guthre make a good captain Mills did ?

No. And no he didn't.

He captained us to Wembley did he not? And scored. Had an inspirational game in the Cardiff away game in the Semi Final. Was an awesome captain.

The biggest cúnt to ever play for Reading. Absolutely hated him and he was just about the worst role model in the squad.

The biggest? Coming from a club that to this day idolises an alcoholic drug addict, has a former captain who was found guilty of assaulting a woman, has had two Cocaine users play for them in the last 15 years and employed Leroy Lita. Calling someone who told a few hundred moaning 'tards to fcuk off and showed many of the qualities that people would like our current captain to show the "biggest cnut to ever play for us" is a bit of a stretch.

As for role model  .

With all factors and alternatives taken carefully into consideration, I still believe Mills is the biggest cúnt to ever play for us. Lita would also definitely make the cúnt XI.

Sticking his finger up to the crowd following a collective groan is only one of several factors causing my intense dislike for him.

Captains should role model good behaviour to the rest of the team, I wasn't referring to being a role model to the wider society.

I think the good thing about this squad is that we wont lose too many players if we go down.

I'd like a starting 11 along the lines of this next year:

------------------------Feds-----------------------------
Kelly-------Morrison-----Marriapa---(new left back)
----------------------Caricco----------------------------
Kebe-------------------------------------------McCleary
--------------Akpan---------(new attacking mid)-----
-----------------------ALF--------------------------------

That team could really go forward well, and with a new left back would handle most attacks of the championship well (to my limited knowledge of the championship)

I dont think it would take much tinkering to bounce straight back up, the challenge would come in staying up the season after.

Why is everybody suggesting we need a new left back? Shorey would probably be the best left back in the Championship, and I can't see him getting too many offers from premier league clubs, so I'm sure he'd be keen to stay.

Posted this in another thread, but then realised that this is a much more sensible thread to do so in. :S

I think Pog, Le Fondre, Guthrie, Roberts, Pierce and maybe Feds will leave, should we go down.

GK - McCarthy - Very happy with that.
LB - Shorey (hopefully)
RB - Kelly
CB's - Morrison + Mariappa - (Very happy with them 2 in the champ)

Our Mid will be quality WITHOUT signing anyone, let alone when Nige signs in some of his own talent.

Carrico, Akpan, McCleary (showing signs that he'll be great in future), Kebe, Leigertwood (was awesome in the champ remember), Karacan, Jobi (again - nobody complained with him in the Champ), Kanu - That's a pretty formidable midfield for Championship standard.

Att (where we'll probably be weakest, unless we sign a couple)
Hunt (if we don't let him go), Blackman is showing potential, so he could be an asset in the Championship.

With a decent buy up front + maybe a defensive signing, I say we'll have a great chance in the Championship.

Adkins is a fan of attacking full backs and Shorey is out of contract. Could well be that Adkins brings in his own man here.

He's not going any better (and when was he good enough anyway?) - time to move on and make use of some of the younger players.
