Leigertwood is just too slow and not skilful enough for the PL so why the f*ck he starts every week in beyond me. He gives the ball away far more than he completes a pass and so it was today. He gave the ball away for both goals and nearly every other time he got it.
Exactly. The decision to start him every week has been quite a big chunk of the problem. He cant pass, he cant tackle, he cant really do anything except give the ball away. Yes he was good the last two seasons, but it has been clear that he is out of his depth at this level for a long time. But because the manager is also, he didnt do what he should have done and dropped like Ledge ages ago, like he eventually did to Gorkss. But no, as long as we keep the favourites happy it doesn't matter if we go down.
This is what really pisses me off with BM saying no favorites but plays him week in week out and then comes out today and says hes been great for the last 3 years
Yeah dont get me wrong, I like the fact that at Reading the players who got us to the PL get a fair crack at playing in it. But when they are not only not good enough, but also contibuting far more bad than good, then for the good of the club they should be dropped. Ledge has had more than a fair crack, does he really contribute anything that another average player couldnt? No. He hasnt actually provided a single assist this season, not even ONE. I mean, I know we never play through the middle (we dont know how), but seriously a CM who has started every game bar one, not to have a single assist to your name is a joke. What any of the players did last season is irrelevant, because the hard work they put in during that time is being wasted by getting relegated because of decisions like this.
McDermott might have got us to the PL, but he is far more the reason why we probably wont be in it next season. As we know, we wernt even that good last season, we didnt dominate games, we had good 20 minute spells, much like this season. Resilience, momentum and luck got us promoted last season, and I dont think McD is to thank for any of the points we have earned by coming back late on this season. We have Le Fondre to thank for most of that, not his tactics. It's almost like the players think you know what? oxf*rd the tactics we havent got long left to get something here, lets just play how we want. Yet McD gets plaudits for his motivation and never say die team spirit. What, like the spirit we showed against Wigan and Villa? Are you kidding me?
Some truly pathetic performances against our relegation rivals is another of the biggest factors. These matches are where the players and manager know they are under pressure, because our fans think we have a chance, even maybe expect us to win. But, they have failed miserably as we have not won a single match against any of them, and apart from a point at QPR, I dont think we even have any points from them. That means that we do not deserve to stay up. At least we now definitely know what to expect when Saints and QPR come to the Madejski. Yes, more of that same shit resulting in resounding home defeats as everyone's survival hopes are kept alive, except ours.
