Just someone who isn't a soft touch who promotes togetherness and a love in dressing room. Someone with some bollocks and tactical nous. Someone who can manage egos without dropping them all and inflicting imaginary injuries tom justify his mismanagement. Someone with a fresh approach to training, tactics, match preparation, transfers. Just someone with a Premier League track record who needs a new challenge.

I'd love Nigel Adkins!

To be honest getting rid of MCD is pointless at this point, although I would prefer a new manager nothing will change this season. MCD looks out of his depth at this level, and is struggling with the players he has at his disposal.

I would like a new manager such as Adkins to come in, bring in a few players over the summer and rebuild the team ready for a return to the prem within two seasons.

We're down no matter now. Get someone in as early as possible, prepare for the summer. The longer you leave it, the less organised we'll be in the summer and going into the new season.

That said, I expect BM to stay. He'll be convinced he's learnt enough to turn it around next season, and AZ seems to believe in him.

I think a lot depends on who is available. At present Adkins is available and has a good track record. He irritates me. but you cannot argue with his record and he's bound to be snapped up sooner rather that later by another club. Could be wise moving for him now.

He can't pick a player, build or pick a team and is exeptionally arrogant believe it or not.

Hhughsie in with steve keane as his no2 now and let them build for next season.

What makes you think a manager with a second tier title who is quite highly rated and has had at least one pl club (at the time) try to head hunt him, is cheap?

I'd like Adkins but Brian's going nowhere soon so we''ll have to accept he'll have a job by the time we're recruiting.

Mark Hughes???? Seriously? A great example of a quality player in his day becoming a crap manager who gets numerous chances due to who they once were.

McDermott admits they should have spent more in the summer & criticises the fans reaction towards Mikele Leigertwood.

The fans reaction was more about you picking him every bloody week, not him personally!

If by crap you mean doing an excellent job with both Wales and Blackburn, the decent jobs at both City and Fulham before failing with QPR then I guess you'd be right!

He didn't buy them though. Since becoming manager, although mostly on a tight budget, his successes in the transfer market are very few and far between. It could be argued that we miss his scouting..

I'd appreciate someone showing McDermott a league table this evening and explaining how our position in relation to Villa's is now six points worse off than if we'd gone and won today.

Perhaps then he'll stop pulling out his own lengthy list of cliches whilst pissing on the fire of anyone who dares suggest games like Wigan or Villa are six pointers.

Tell that to Legs, the guy trys and give 100% yet idiots mock him every step he took off the pitch, why not a quick cheer if they really wanted to mock him? Clearly helps his confidence doesn't it?

We had the usual drivel on Radio Berks about:-
Stonewall penalties
Offside goal not being offside
Decisions going against us
We played well and were the better side
One of their players cost more than our whole team
Not having any luck (Villa's first goal Brian?)
What a great captain Jobi is and
(the best of all) Jobi never hides (when of course he disappears for large parts of games especially when moved to centre-mid).

Brian stopped short of crticising the fans as he knows where his bread is buttered.

Perhaps the fans would be more forgiving if we hadn't already lost every game against our relegation rivals, and the guy hadn't given away our 1 goal lead within a minute of obtaining it.

Not saying that the reaction was correct or palatable..but I do think the frustration direct primarily at the manager was understandable.

Listening to Brian blame the ref a-fucking-gain for a pathetic midfield and defensive display was particular cause for annoyance.

Love him to bits, but it's becoming harder to see a him being capable of the ruthlessness required to rebuild this squad in the summer.

McDermott alluding back to the Gylfi bid today.

Simplistically speaking from my perspective it shows 4 things.

Firstly, this is the club telling the fans 'we have money'.
Secondly if there was money in January then surely there was money in the summer.
Thirdly, it should mean we have money next year.
Finally when Dellor asked, would of it been better to spend £10m on three £3m players and create a stronger squad? McDermott went quiet showing he completely cocked it in the window.

I'm sure this has either been mentioned or you want to counter it

And of course the wages of one £10M player would be the same as those of three £3M players. :|

Of course they wouldn't but if the club genuinely want to compete in this league that is the price they have to pay. They could have saved some significant wages by not signing Carrico for starters.
