When Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City etc. play poorly and get a point it's a sign of potential champions, yet when we...

You get my point.

Man Friday All those dockheads who say "cheer up, we got a point away from home, wot's the problem?", do you ever look beyond the end of your nose? Ultimately over the season performances will equal points. Perform like that every week and we'll finish bottom by miles.

yes but play like we did against Newcastle and we'll get into Europe.

Your point is?

When Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City etc take a 2-0 lead against the run of play, ge absolutely battered all game with only 21% possession and end up lucky to get a 2-2 draw, you know they aren't contenders for champions.

When a team reliquishes the lead 4 times in six games, can't win games they play well in and have only 3 points from a possible 18, you know they're going to be in trouble.

BBC said it was 40% possession. Who gives a crap about possession. We could see we played bad, why does everyone have to bring it up?

How well are Norwich, Wigan, Southampton and QPR doing Ian? We're not doing well but we knew it was going to be difficult!

Kinda hard to score if you don't have the ball. Low possession is a evidence of playing poorly.

It happens....we're new to this league, 3 of those games against top 6 sides, and today was against a team that absolutely passed even Man Utd to death last season.

In the Championship we aspired to 2 points a game, anything less was not good enough. We have to reset our expectations of what success looks like. I don't think anyone is saying it won't be a season of struggle - but we'll make it a lot worse if we're constantly hand wringing and moaning.

I'm starting to warm to the season finally. It's a challenge, we're tiny fish (can you say that?) up here. It's not like 2006-7 when we had a really good team which had learnt to play with each other for a long time.

We won a lot of games last year in the sort-of-chaotic way we played today. I do hope Brian doesn't completely turn against Guthrie though. I think he has an important role to play this season.

But at the end of the day, a point was good today. Let's see what happens.

I really figured this would be the game we got our first win. Swansea City is struggling, winless and goalless in their last 3. Off to a 2-0 lead despite being outplayed by this "out of form" team in the first half. Then couldn't get out of our half after the interval. And the longer we go without a win the more the pressure builds on the team.

As much as the Newcastle game was a step in the right direction this was a step back in terms of us "finding ourselves" and imposing our will on the game. We were really far too passive, to expect a win, for 80% of the game...

We were too passive but it's Swansea. They play really good football. There was no-one in the championship last year that played anywhere near as fluent passing football as them.

It was frustrating to watch today but give it time. Brian will have learnt a lot from the game today...

Stupid and blinkered!

You tried really hard not to understand it, that's all.

And obviously succeeded admirably.

We got outplayed but GAINED a point. That's ok in my book.

Deal with it.

right...well I disagree. An away point is an away point - doesn't matter how we get it. They can't take it away from us because we were sh1t in the second half. Does the point from Newcastle at home count for more because we absolutely battered them and they cheated a goal?

They were winless, and goalless, in the previous 3 before today. This wasn't an "in form" team we faced today. Once we got the lead, most definitely against the run of play, instead of putting our foot on their throat in the second half we let them come at us white wave after white wave...

After being up 2-0 we were damn lucky to get out of there with the point.

But in terms of the quality of our play this and the Newcastle game is like night and day. It appears we are going to be a maddeningly inconsistent "Jeckyl and Hyde" kinda team this season in that regard.

I had a draw down on a 5 game accumulator, & fortunately the other 4 came in & I'm £600 richer.

So whilst I'm pretty fuming about the comeback & fairly abject performance I'm off to the offy for champers

Any point is a good point in this league as far as I'm concerned. Yes we led by 2 goals and shouldn't be throwing games away like we did today, but the fact we were pretty poor from start to finish today and still managed to score twice and pick up a point is a good sign.

I'm still confident that if we can get to January and still be just outside the relegation zone we'll buy a few players and they'll do enough just to keep us up.

On another note, I was a big Fedders fan and didn't see what all the fuss was about McCarthy, but will happily admit that my opinion has now changed. McCarthy has been brilliant since coming into the side and should now be the clubs number 1.
