FT - Didn't create enough decent opportunities. My optimism has taken a little knock tbh

urzmikep Simple enough - how many decent shots on target have we had today!!!! Just don't have enough fire power or quality to stay up I'm afraid...............keep on saying it but just didn't spend enough money in the transfer window...........even Saints are winning today

This should have bought Ayew

It's not the end of the world (as the majority of this forum is about to claim that it is) but i'm thoroughly depressed now.

The optimism i had is draining away.I thought we had done good business in the summer transfer window. We have to hope that Kebe or Roberts can come in a change things.

Word from someone enduring the agony in person at the Hawthorns was that we were 'simply atrocious'.

Ideal After the match I just feel like we're lacking in the striker department, and that we didn't get ANY crosses in from the left side whatsoever.
Those are my two main gripes.

Would agree with that. Maybe the players are just finding their feet at this level, but I expcted us to be a bit more competitive than we were today. Also, the lack of speed at the back is very worrying. Not panicking yet, but we need to see major improvement quickly.

Ideal
Big Ern he worrying thing, is we haven't really created any clear cut chances

We didn't get one single cross in from the left. So we're handicapped by 50% in that respect.
We need to play a left footed winger so we can get a cross in from the left, it's that simple.

Couldnt Kebe play on the left and cut in as a johnson did for City on the right?

No, not doom...

But 1 point in 4 games and hardly ever looking threatening.

Yeah, yeah, slow start. I am sure we'll pick it up when we face Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle...

bennno We need Roberts and Kebe back and fit.

We needed to sign some replacements when we knew they were injured at the start of the season. Kebe, in particular, is a notoriously slow healer.

Royal Ginger DOOOOOOM! etc etc

It was a vast improvement on the Tottenham game and there are positves to take from it. Shorey seemed to be an improvement on Harte defensively, McCarthy had a good game, McCannuff at right back seemed to work OK as an option, midfield partnership of Leighterwood and McCleary improved as the game went on, we did create some chances, etc.

Our passing needs to improve though, and it did through the game. Also, our free kicks are nowhere near the quality and consistancy they were at last year - this can be improved. We didn't create too many chances, but we were getting more people into the box when we attacked, which was good. I'm confident we'll be back with some goals in the next game and that the improvements in our defence will help us.

It was just painful viewing, did a lot of good in the build up but never had any urgency in our play and our free kicks were appalling.

we worked hard, but working hard only gets you so far and im sick of the hoofball tactics!!!

McCarthy made some great saves tho and imo was not at fault for the goal. how lukaku had the time to take the ball down set himself and score when 2 reading players were marking him is beyond me.

A battling display. The best we were ever going to get was a 0-0. Once they scored it was all over. :(

Easy to say we looked alright 'til the end, obviously, but we really had no push in the final 10. WBA had it locked.
