Why do we have a 'Mullins 1'

Is Snowball an ITK and has already pre-empted the 'Mullins 2'

andrew1957 I am sort of with Snowball.

There is always a lot of rubbish speculation each season but this summer, because of our rise to the PL, it has reached epidemic proportions. Most of the rumours have been beyond ridiculous.

The only player that I really wanted was Gylfi (but that will never happen now) and apart from that in Brian I trust. I am sure that come 1st Sept we will have a new RB, a new LB, one or possibly two new CB's, probably another midfielder and possibly another striker. We might even have a new bench warmer keeper to allow the youngsters out on loan.

After being sucked into the Gylfi debacle I am not too bothered now.

Yeah, but the title of the board and the general content of the posts suggest that is largely going to be full of falacious rumour and speculation - which is exactly what it says on the tin. And you don't have to have signed a player, for rumours of our interest to have been true.

Expecting Speculation threads to result in a signing is ludicrous, especially with about two months of transfer window left. Expecting even 10% of rumours to result in a signing is bafflingly mental, especially when you throw in the Kes / Bigmike factor.

As always with snowball, it's a point that doesn't need making and is utterly worthless because everyone with social skills and half a brain already effortlessly understands what he's trying to say and knows he's spectacularly managed to miss the point. Again.

Mind you as utterly pointless as it is he's got this thread to 3 pages in approx 9 hours since he posted it - isn't that saying something? Perhaps Snowball should give us some stats on pointless threads to responses ratio....

The point is, that there comes a point when rumours are so rarely right they are utterly useless.

Naturally, for someone like Ian Royal and his girlfriend Palmela Tree, this place is a God-send
and as long as he can here his voice, all is well.

Me, I like rumours, but when they reach such utterbollox proportions, it's wrong.

This place is no better than the places you malign, like footballtransferrumours

At least some of the posters there have an excuse, like being under 16

And as for "Snowball's spreadsheet" I don't have one.

Rather than say "There's a lot of naff rumours for every correct one"

(which could mean we are right 1 in 3 times, 1 in 4, 1 in 5)

I thought it would be worth ACTUALLY CHECKING, so I checked,
wrote down the names (one typo and one misspelling), took
a look to see what had happened, and stuck the names in alpha-order.

And, then, as usual, because only about 1% of you could string a real argument together,
out trot the pathetic accusations. The best bit is all bar one of you wouldn't have a clue
what Asperger's was if it bit you on the prick

I love the way the little mental thinks references to taking an inflatable palm tree to an inflatable themed end of season party is some sort of insult that makes me look stupid. When in fact, it's entirely the other way around.

He reminds me of the frothing lunatic sitting in front of us who decided to have a massive rant that because we'd brought inflatables and were having a good time, Reading were going to lose and it would be all our fault.

He was also clearly mentally unwell.

If even slightly true that's actually even more mental.

OK snowball can be a bit irritating, but think there's no need for all this nastiness towards him. It's like playground bullying around here sometimes. I actually kind of agree with his basic argument that this website has become so ridiculous recently in fabricating rumours that I've stopped checking it regularly as before.

How can this or anything be "slightly" true? Surely it either is or isn't?

Or maybe I get a third party to collate a SS for me so it's not "actually" mine?

Prehaps some people enjoy discussing what a player could add to our team and how they would fit in and the price the would cost etc? How about this Snowball, you don't read the threads you think are stupid? Then those of us who enjoy the discussion can with out you coming in and having a go? or is that to much to ask?

The word is PERHAPS, and YES, discussing how a specific player might add to the team is a GREAT idea.

But that wasn't what this was all about, was it?

The RUMOURS were people linking RFC with players, often, as it turns out
"making it up" because in their twisted minds, that's "clever"

Rumours, of course, are rumours, not facts, but when we end up with a hundred or so (I only bothered with 3 pages' worth) it becomes stupid and self-defeating.

And as for reading things that are stupid...

They aren't each (necessarily) stupid, taken individually.

I know this is a big idea (it involves holding two or more facts in mind simultaneously)
but it is the COMBINATION of "too-many" rumours that slowly but surely kills the point
of the forum.

Expand it a little and maybe you can understand.

How would you feel if there were three times as many threads and/or
we had been linked with 450 players?

Do you not see that there comes a point where excessive rumour-mongering kind of kills itself?

Have you actually ever read, "The Boy Who Cried Wolf?"

Exactly my point. I used to enjoy reading this forum.

Now it's now better than that noddy transfer rumours one

Why does it become self-defeating obviously someone want's to talk about them.
I love that if someone makes up a RUMOUR (which is how usually they start) then it makes them twisted.
Ooh and i'm sorry if a didn't spell PERHAPS right but you didn't see anyone picking out the spelling mistakes from your list or does that make you feel nice and clever the same as those people who made the rumours up, you really are twisted
