John Terry's defence team getting desperate!!!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ds-newsxml

"Footballer John Terry's request to have lip-reading evidence banned from his race row trial has been refused in court.

The Premier League star's lawyer asked that a video analysis of what he said to rival Anton Ferdinand during their confrontation should not form part of his trial.

But District Judge Howard Riddle said it would be 'wrong in principle' not to hear all the evidence in the dispute"

But JT - if it was all just a misunderstanding, why are you trying to ban the evidience of what words were spoken by you??

They need to have multiple lip reading experts to make that fair tbh. You can't let something like that rest on the opinion of one person.

Given that the video evidence is so blatently obvious to people who are not lip reading experts, I'm not sure what JT is trying to achieve.

our opinion doesn't matter though. if the jury hear and see evidence that supports what he said, and what he denies he said, then he's guilty as charged no questions asked. open and shut case. we all know he's a nasty piece of work, you just have to prove it to a jury.

i agree. a small fee (to him anyway) and maybe an 8 game ban. i would hope to see a 6 month ban and he be made to do community service helping mixed race communities in London.

What court can dish out a ban?

i was referring to the action the fa should take after the inevitable guilty verdict. as for the courts, perhaps the suggested community service. i can't see a prison sentence, can you?

Suarez is banned for 8 games for using a racist word without any of the expletives to make it anywhere near as aggresive as JT.

So a three game ban, then.

If he is found guilty, it will be interesting to see if the Court imposes the same sentence on him as if he were a fan convicted of the same offence, namely a 3 year banning order from all football grounds in the top 5 divisions in England, and having to surrender his passport when England play abroad.

His trial starts today at Westminster Magistrates Court; expected to last 5 days.

Maximum punishment; £2500 fine.

I detest John Terry and he is long overdue to have something against him, but you have to ask why this case has even gone to court.
A two-second comment in the heat of battle on a football pitch 9-months ago and it's now come to this.
Was it racist? Does it really matter that much?
Should have been sorted out privately between the two players months ago. There are worst crimes in the world and worse things happen on a football pitch without this sort of over-reaction.
This country is an absolute joke.

He should literally be kicked out of football with an oversized comedy boot.
