Royal Rother No excuses permitted. Rooney has been absolutely appalling.

You'd only scream if our best player hadn't been selected and we'd lost.

No win situation for Hodgson.

Smart and honest play from Rooney there. No room to get a decent shot off, turn, hold his feet and set up Milner for a shot instead. He's coming alive now.

Would Ukraine go through ahead of France if Sweden win 1-0 and this finishes 1-1? What about 2-2?

What does Milner actually add to this team? I can't remember him doing anything all tournament.

Agreed, Milner is to me what Gerrard is to RR.

Completely pointless waste of a selection.

Defensive qualities, sensible positional play and still a reasonable presence in attack.

I'll take Young then - he's been useless in all three games.

So he just finds himself in the right sort of area often? Brilliant.

I'd have Walcott, Johnson, Ox and Sammy Igoe ahead of Milner.

Offers a greater work rate than any of our other wide men. This allows us to wear teams down more when we're doing our containing act. Then, as things become more stretched, players like Ox & Walcott come on and run at tired defenders, creating space for others.

Although I'm not Milner's biggest fan (I'd like to see him put a at least one reasonable cross in!) but I can see why he's in this team.
