FTR Brian Stabler is the Finance Director is he not? He may not be on the board - but his title is director.... there is more to RFC than just Wood-Smith and Madejski...and where does Wood-Smith work? Solicitors - needed to draw up the agreement and help sort it out, no? No-one here has said it was either Wood-Smith or Madejski who have given them info - but there are plenty of sources involved in the agreement/takeover etc.

Makes me laugh all the people on here having to type out long replies trying to convince themselves that the take-over will go ahead.......when the fact is, they are bricking it like everyone else, just waiting for that "announcement" that it has fallen through

Royal Lady   I don't "bang on" about him for a start. My sources are credible and have never ever fed me duff info before. I would point out that there are more people involved in this takeover than just directors at the club and the syndicate comprising TSI. Like I said earlier, if this all comes off, we'll have to wait and see whether it's the best thing for the club - but don't come crying to me if it all goes pear shaped at some point.

And what exactly is it that you claim to know? Madejski has waited 20 years or more for this opportunity, do you really think he's going to risk it ALL by upping the price so late in the game? Even for a STG like you, that's a bit much.

As Honorary Life President of the STGs, I am nevertheless extremely confident that the deal will go through. The king is half dead, long live the king!

I've never said that he is trying to up the price - I did, however, comment on a series of posts about that particular subject.

I was told weeks ago, by two different sources, both close to the club - (not players I hasten to add) - that the deal was on the verge of falling through because of certain disagreements and it was highly unlikely it would go through. I also stated earlier on that I have no idea whether these disagreements have been sorted out, but if it doesn't go through, it certainly won't be a surprise to me. I don't blab on here about a lot of stuff that I'm told - as I'm not bothered whether a) anyone believes it or b) any of it actually comes true (in most instances) - I do, however, care that my sources would not tell me anything else if they thought I went running to HNA every time they told me something. HTH.

There will ALWAYS be disagreements in this type of negotiation that would, if unresolved, scupper the deal.

ALWAYS.

Naive individuals who appreciate that fact may well, at certain points in the process, believe...
Royal Lady ...that the deal was on the verge of falling through because of certain disagreements and it was highly unlikely it would go through.

But thankfully neither Madejski or Samuelson are naive - both will have known that disagreements are a part of the process.

Both have a strong desire to see it through so, unless one of the 2 above named decides to act like a oxf*rd they will reach a satisfactory conclusion.

Count on it.

My gut instinct is to dismiss the posters with 'inside sources' as WUMs or fibbers.

But there is just enough smoke to make me wonder whether it might genuinely be going tits up.

I personally think this is probably closer to the truth. I am sure there have been some issues but the strength of Madejski's words would certainly suggest these have been overcome, or should be overcome.

The flip side to the 'these guys have been around the block' argument is that they wouldn't have knowingly set an 'end of march, hopefully sooner' timescale if they thought it would be later, so obviously something has delayed things whether that is a contractual argument, securing funds, looking into consortium members (?) or other....

I don't keep piping on - that's the point. I mentioned it yesterday and got slated by no less than Ian Royal for it - I'm just trying to point out that I've never said Madejski asked for more money and that, whether Ian Royal likes it or not, I do know people who do have told me certain things both now and in the past. soz.

My source has told me that their brother has a source at Swindon Town who has a source at the club who has a source at Reading Football Club who happens to sell watered down Fosters in the East stand who has a source who reckons that the deal is on the brink of collapse.

Madejski's demands for hideously expensive, complimentry 'Premier League Standard' wigs and/or hairpieces when appearing on MOTD next season are close to scuppering this deal.

Or so a bloke tells me (over a pint of Directors) in the pub.

robinsfriday - can your source verify that the Fosters is watered down or is just a conspiracy theory?

Have heard from a VERY reliable source that there COULD be some potential problems which would make the deal LESS likely to happen. There is a GOOD chance though that they are minor hiccups and the deal will PROBABLY go ahead as planned UNLESS there's another problem.

I'll upd8 you with anything else I hear in the next few weeks.
