grey_squirrel Outrageous but all too predictable in this day and age.

Question. Should Alfie not have publicised how bored he was (and thus inviting twitter traffic/attack) and maybe have gone down the local park and knocked a few balls about even just to himself?! Doesn't take much thought/imagination as a high paid professional footballer especially since he is falling down the pecking order. Not clever Alfie.

he was on the coach travelling to a reserve game in which he played 90 mins and i believe scored.

You're bang on, he really did bring it on himself. I mean, he asked for questions, what did he expect?

Really was disgusting seeing this but unfortunately it isn't surprising. Nothing will come of it in terms of punishment but it was sickening reading it. What sort of joke is this? Fan to fan banter or fan to opposition player - yep, fine but this oversteps the mark

I wouldn't be too sure - a bloke who abused Stan Collymore on Twitter a few weeks ago was arrested and is being prosecuted.

And last year someone was sent down for Tweeting "Bomb Robin Hood Airport" - obviously in jest but he was prosecuted and found guilty. And the sentences for people found guilty of inciting riots on Facebook & Twitter were substantial.

I get the impression that the Police & CPS are very keen to make publicly sure that people understand what can and can't be said on Twitter & Facebook, and so are adopting a zero tolerance policy on such things.

Some bloke and his gf were arrested at Los Angeles airport because he tweeted he was looking forward to going on holiday and "destroying LA" - authorities took this mean he was a terrorist and bundled him back home. :|
