Looks like the language issue caused this 'misunderstanding'.
Unfortunately for Terry I don't think he can use the same 'I was just calling him what his team-mates call him' excuse.
If he said the word in this country he should face charges like anyone else in this country. If I go to an Arab country and get boozed up do you think I can blame a cultural misunderstanding? No chance.
5 month ban and community service with a suspended jail sentence should ensure no such cultural misunderstandings happen again.
If you get boozed up in a premises where you can get boozed up, and they exist in say, Saudi Arabia, then you don't get punished. If Suarez said something in Spanish that is culturally acceptable where he grew up, and to someone who speaks Spanish and who might he have expected to understand it and it's cultural meaning(Suarez says Evra's team-mates called him it too), then he is guilty of nothing more than being a bit naive.
If there was any racial slur intended, or it wasn't used in that context then obviously the book should be thrown at Suarez.
