Who Moved The Goalposts?
brendywendy
andrew1957 I am all for giving someone a chance but I see him as a similar player to Sonko. Both have had injuries and both probably past thier best. As you say if he is not good enough for Hull you do wonder if he is good enough for us. Overall comparing this season to last season - Mills/Ingi/Khiz/Pearce>>>>>>>>>>Pearce/Morrison/Gardner/Gunnarsson

but then you could have said the same for any number of players we bought/took on frees from brentford.

etc etc

But the Brenford players all had a points to prove that they could play at a higher level. McShane and Gardner don't have that hunger (and I don't rate either of them).

If we are seriously looking at a CB, I hope these examples are just a smokescreen.

how do you know how hungry he is?
could be bang up for getting games after lots of injuries.
what i do know, is that BMcD and teh club are th ebest people to have a look at th eplayer- assess his hunger, and make a decision. and luckily thats exactly what will happen.

its a bit harsh though- people moan that we always buy cheap players from lower leagues, and its all about ambition. we sign a good quality player with plenty of top level experience, and its-hes not hungry enough.
they cannae win.

The news here is that we are actually looking at the right kind of player to complement Pearce and Morrison.

Gardner might or might not be the right individual player but he fits the right profile of being experienced without being quite geriatric.

Or alternatively we aren't convinced of his fitness and so only considered a 1 year deal..........

roadrunner
Isaac Hunt Going back a few years there was talk of us trying to sign him. I thought he'd be a good signing back then, but injuries have had a big impact on his career.

I thought he was very disappointing for Palace last season.

Really not sure he's the answer (except that he's probably within budget)

Just out of interest how many times did you see him play for Palace last season? They seem quite keen to sign him.

He'd be a good signing for any mid-table Championship club. Us or Palace then.

Just the 2, home & away last season. As i said, i recall the time when i felt that he'd have been a decent signing - so his performances last season, IMHO, were fairly poor. I have relatives that are STHs @ Palace. One cousin thought he was worth keeping on - the other thought he was average and that they could do better.... and they were just happy to stay up last season.

End of the day what do i know. If Brian thinks he's the best we can do, then fair enough, I hope Gardner is the right man for the job.

LOL - looks like he prefers the ambition of Palace to the lack of ambition of RFC

This is becoming a bit of a farce now. Bearing in mind we have sold Mills and no longer have to pay salaries to Ingi or Khiz - surely there must be enough money in the pot to at least afford a free transfer.

Although Palace are making a few signings they are not really showing huge ambition so I think in this case he might be preferring to go to a Club he played for last season who are offering him a two year deal rather than take a one year deal with no certainty of a second especially given his injury record.

However I do agree it is pretty disappointing we are having to dredge the bargain basement after selling Mills for such a good fee.

That was really my point.

Good luck to him if he prefers Palace.

We wont get Kilgallon for £9k or less though.

It'll be a Premiership loanee again or someone unknown like this Colchester defender.

Covering all bases... nice.

I think you might be right.

I know some have said Jack Mills is too young at 18 but he's good enough to be recognised by his country and other players have made a name for themselves at a younger age that Jack Mills. Give him some bench time, perhaps loan him out to L1 and see how he fares.

Our team next season will be:

Feds
Griffin Morrison Pearce Harte

Obita Karacan Legs McAnuff

Manset Hunt

Personally I cant see us finishing above 12th this year.
Looks weak at the back. Morrison looks good. Harte and Griffin old and slow
