I haven't denied that the interview was poor form.

I merely said that Federici was not negative about RFC and did not insinuate that players would leave if they could.

The big irony of this all is, of course, that if Alex McCarthy had been in goal in the play-off final instead of Federici he would probably (in my mind, at least) have made a better job of preventing Swansea's second goal -in which case there's more of a chance that Federici would now be preparing to play at a higher level.

Get rid of the cocky bastard.

We don't need him.

Look at the way Jobi has been behaving recently, or Long, or Kebe. That's the way to go.

floyd__streete Classy from Federici isn't it, a public 'come and get me plea'. Almost as classy as his constant refusal to acknowledge the many blunders he has made over the last 2 or 3 seasons. Get rid and plug that defecit; that gaping, pourous defecit.

Usually the trick of players who haven't really been talked about or generated much interest as if they've almost been forgotten about....He's the one player in the whole starting XI that it would take zero effort to replace. The problem is would you seriously buy him if you were a Premiership manager? the only 3 clubs looking for a starting keeper are Villa, WBA and Swansea. He's not good enough to play for Villa so that takes them out of the equation, WBA have today said they want either Foster or Green which leaves Swansea, unless he's happy to go somewhere and sit on the bench.

I think he'll end up going to someone in the Premier League who has the need for a 'decent' second choice keeper and who's first choice is either getting on a bit or has the potential to move in the January window.

Someone like Fulham, Bolton or Blackburn.

I'm not convinced he'll be bothered about being first choice, just so long as his pay packet demands and Premier League ambitions are met, oh, and of course that he can be the best athelete he can be.

Can anyone else blame him? If you work in a job and all the staff around you are moving onto bigger and better things while the company are not looking to headhunt competent established staff, instead finding cheap replacements from Tesco's, you'd want to leave. That mimics the way RFC is run unfortunately. This club is just a stepping stone for players so people better get used to it.

Thanks fed, i'd leave too if all my mates and good players were being sold with no ambition to reinvest in proven replacements. Remember one thing though, this club made you who are today in the football world, don't ever forget that.

Totally agree with both of you.

In fact, after 2 seasons of him being our number one (and fully understanding why we let Marcus go despite being gutted over his departure) I'm in no doubt that this guy is totally over rated by some and, in reality, very average. If he's surprised by a lack of interest perhaps he should look back at his fcuk up at Wembley and other lame efforts like the one that gifted 3pts to 10 man QPR.

If Adam Federici was listed on The FTSE100 most dealers would have "sell, sell, sell" alongside his name and perhaps he already fears that he's likely to be OUR number 2 if he stays.

Not good enough, get what we can.

Yeah we don't need him because we've got a keeper who's played a grand total of 13 games first team games for the club.

Alex is going to be a very good keeper but who is to say in a whole season he won't make more errors than Federici? Then again Feds like Mills isn't one of the favourite few because he supposedlly has "an attitude".

Financially I think the best move is to sell Federici now to cash in on his two years of development since replacing Hahnemann. If we don't do that then there's a big chance that McCarthy and/pr Andersen will leave anyway and that Federici's profile will fall the more he plays (and blunders) in the Championship.

Give McCarthy the shirt for the next season or two and he too will become worth the few million the club will be looking for to maintain our profitable record in the transfer market. If we get more than 3 more years service from McCarthy then we've either gone up or he's failed to live up to half of his potential.

Jobi, Long, Karacan et al also have an attitude, and want to fight for the cause.

It's called a Good attitude.

More because he makes too many mistakes for a player who seems to rate himself so highly.

Is there really an issue with fans not warming to a guy who pretty much blames all his mistakes on everyone else (even taking into account the position he plays in he won't be a favourite with his attitude)?

I'll be the first to admit I've never warmed to Federici - he's always struck me as much too much "I am, I am, look at me" and much more of an individual player than a team player. Perhaps I just naturally hate arrogance, but he's always rubbed me up the wrong way from day one.

And when you consider that after all the clubs he trawled round looking for a break it was Reading who took the risk on him, a little more humility would seem to be in order, IMHO.

Swansea City have agreed terms with Benfica's highly-rated goalkeeper Jose Moreira.

The 29-year-old arrived at the Liberty Stadium for talks this afternoon and quickly agreed terms on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The Portuguese international made 148 appearances for Benfica and helped them win the League Cup last season after saving a penalty in the final.

All sportsmen rate themselves highly and if they don't they're doing something wrong.

When he made a mistake against Sheffield United two seasons ago he had this to say:

http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1766609,00.html

The mistake against Forest:

Hardly the words of someone who always blames his mistakes on others. In fact as it says in the second article that he's quite harsh on himself.

Excellent - now we're having a go at players who show ambition.......

Know your place Federici, it's the Reading way.

Nowt wrong showing ambition - if players didn't show ambition they'd never be able to make it in the game.

Kevin Doyle had ambition, but he quietly went about things behind the scenes, in a totally professional way. And when he moved away, everyone wished him well and still thinks fondly of him.

Compare and contrast with someone running to SSN and putting themselves in the shop window publicly.

Fair enough, ALL his mistakes was over stating it then.

He was just establishing himself in the team at that time though, I think it's more recently that he's become more bulshy about it, although the first time I recall it was after the Palace game where he gifted a Victor Moses inspired Palace the 3 points before openly criticising his teammates.

Well, I do wish that he had chosen a club other than Wolves!
