No Fixed Abode Mills could be on his way to Stoke City for £3m.

Seems more like wolves according to Sky, i would demand £4m given that am pretty sure donny have a sell on fee?

Mills: Wanted by Wolves

Skysports.com understands that Wolves have made a move for Reading skipper Matt Mills.

The impressive defender missed out on a place in the Premier League after The Royals suffered play-off heartbreak when they lost to Swansea.

Now Mills looks set to get the chance to move to the Premier League with Wolves leading the chase for his signature.

Stoke, Newcastle and West Brom have also been linked in the past, but Mick MCarthy is now looking to seal a deal.

Skysports.com understands Wolves have made an approach, but they will need to meet Reading's valuation - which is thought to be in excess of £3million.

Reading are already looking at potential replacements and they are ready to join Ipswich and Charlton in the battle for Colchester's Magnus Okuonghae .

What? So no-one under contract ever leaves a football club?

The contract ensures that the selling club gets a decent sum for them - it doesn't stop the club accepting an offer for the player.

a/ the club will not want to sell him unless a very silly offer - say 3M plus comes in - which it won't. I really cannot see a PL coming in for him.

b/ he has stated many times he loves it here which is why he signed on for another two years in Feb.

As if! If someone offered £1m for him we'd (rightly) bite their hand off.

I was.

If we accepted 1M for him we would have to find a better player for the same price or less and I don't see many (if any) available.

Wolves really pee me off... Do they have Hammond on speed dial? Can we refuse sale just as matter of principle??

I thought mills was in the paper last week saying he doesn't wanna go

Mills' aspirations will be higher than Wolves imho.

£3m for Hunt!? He's done well and has a good goalscoring record in terms of per appearance, but he's not young, has a dodgy injury record, hasn't scored a lot of goals in a single season. We only got him for about £200k iirc.

I can't see how he could legitimately be valued at more than £1.5m at the absolute most.

£1m would be good business for him - spends more time off pitch than on it

Irrespective of whether offers are good or not – accepting the money does not take the club forward if little or nothing is reinvested.

The point remains that if we hypothetically sold Hunt for 1.8M then where are we going to get a better replacement at less than that price (as the club never reinvests all of the transfer fees received).

The same goes with Mills. OK to say that 3 or 4M is a good price, but if the replacement is a League 1 or 2 untried youngster - how does that help?
