Row Z Royal A winter break means either extending the season earlier in August/later into May (which will probably mean tiredness at the relevant international tournie anyway)

or

Reducing the size of the league to 18 teams and there are fewer places for us play for.

So no thanks on both those counts. The Christmas period is a great time too, so I'd rather keep hold of it for now, ta.

Or spread the "missed" games throughout the season - especially considering there aren't many midweek premier league games.

Germany Italy and Spain all have one and their national side doesn't struggle

Where in the season are most of these games going to go, given that nearly half the league invoved in European football?

2 extra games in August (starting the league a week earlier playing Sunday/Wednesday)
Then you only have to find another 2 weekdays where there aren't any games in European competitions.

If anything*, we need fewer fixtures. Don't see how a winter break will help.

*I say if anything, because I don't believe any change is needed.

I think its just a case of players avoiding burn out....nothing to do with the amount of games, or the weather. Simply give them 3-4 weeks rest the season of a major tournament. So by June they aren't all run down and in need of that rest.

But the break wouldnt be over christmas, it would be in January/Feb when the worst weather usually is.

Im all for a winter break, but NOT for the reasons being touted in the media. I just think most players and fans would rather have games in late May than Mid January.

We could have our massive christmas period as the last hoorah before the winter break.

How about that?

One of the things that makes the Prem 'the best league in the world' is the very busy winter period, lets not tarnish that with a week so the players can get their nails done..

Ian Royal Fack off. Ditch some of the Euro-nonsense if you want to play fewer games you big fairies.

:| Don't think you've understood what a winter break does. It doesn't cut down the amount of games played

The tiredness which a winter break is supposed to stop is usually blamed on playing too many games. But yes, could have put that a fair bit better.

If they really want a winter break, then maybe there should be fewer champions league games. i.e. reduce the number of English teams in that competition! Then maybe, just maybe, we wouldn't need a winter break.

We (who work the less glamourous jobs.....but none the less vigourously) should all have a winter break....and a summer one too...just like the footballers would.

Winter break?..................No..... dont be silly........its just another Premiership/TV wish-list ruse

Percy Freeman and the likes would be turning in their steel toe-capped work boots
