The club don't want to take on travel. Far too much hassle for them. I can't see them coming here for an opinion or asking whether anyone thinks they should take 2,800 or 5,000 tickets for an FA Cup game, too much hassle again.

STAR have a lot more than 200 members and can reach most of them at the touch of a button. They can and do also find out what the opinions of non-STAR members are.

Harpers So Solid Crew A lot of truth there Scrappy, I have never understood why about 200 ish members get subsidised travel, on a regular basis, who is subsidising it?

It is not always subsidised but if there are not sufficient numbers to make even one coach pay for itself we would still run it - and so subsidise it. Also we subsidise the Readibus as we charge the same fare for that as we do for a 57 seater even if it runs for just one wheelchair - not popular with the treasurer but our obligation under the Equality Act. I must admit I am not comfortable with the phrase subsidised travel but it can happen.

Scrappy - if STAR with its 1000 plus members and democratic processes can't realistically be seen as the true voice of supporters - who can?

A bloke Jonny Fordham talks to in the street?

25 people who happen to be on-line on HNA at that particular moment?

Someone random phoning into Radio Berks?

If STAR wasn't there we'd all be saying let's have a supporters trust like the other clubs. As it is we've got one of the bigger and better ones in the League that's actually in regular dialogue with the club. If the club don't listen there's not much STAR can do. And I've never heard any club saying in public "we were daft to ignore the advice of our fans. It just goes to show that amateurs can out-smart us professionals paid decent salaries!"
