but we're no way close to being free from problems yet and all this 'turning around of the season' after only two wins is just laughable!

its not two wins, its 4-two Vs prem opposition, our defence looking settled solid, and the general feel of the club, and set up of the team thats got everyone thinking we may escape relegation, rather than being near certainties previous to BM taking over

i was talking the league as im sure you well know. ask most royals fans what theyd rather see.. progression in the cup or safety in the league, see who says cup... the cup is a welcome distraction from the grind and may well boost the confidence, but that comment was about the two wins in the league suddenly changing everyones thoughts of survival and the team being great!

Ian Royal
Hoop Blah Personally I still don't think a lots changed.

The addition of Griffin has made the single biggest difference in my mind though. We conceeded far too many goals down the right side/right channel and Griffin (and the shift of Ingimarsson from right back to left side centre back) has shored that area of the field up.

We're still not scoring enough goals to turn our performances into results consitently enough, but we've got two good ones through sterling work from the back four and some wasteful finishing at the same time.

We're also now heading back into a run of the so called 'easier games' and so I think McDermott has a great chance of building on the solid start he's made so far.

I like the way he handles himself, and even though I don't think it was the right thing to sack Rodgers, I'm obviously right behind the new man. I do find a lot of the 'isn't it much better now Rodgers has gone' stuff a bit odd though. BUt considering we've always seen that over time under just one manager it shouldn't surprise me.

I don't think there have been big changes either. But I think there have been a fair few very significant small changes.

I actually meant not a lot's changed in terms of performance and results wise.

A few small things have been changed to have a positive effect, plus Griffin and Mills playing and playing well, but I don't see a significant improvement over Rodgers last half dozen or so games....yet!

I think it is reasonable to compare the full run of games for both managers. Any advantage for being more up for the FA Cup is surely more than adequately covered by the higher standard of opposition? And form is the key at the moment for me, which includes cup games, not the points haul so much, as form is more likely to translate into more points.

I'm reasonably confident that McDermott will pick up as good or better than one win in the next 3 league games as well

McDermott: P10 - W4 - D3 - L3 - F11 - A14 - GD -3
Rodgers: P10 -W3 - D2 - L5 - F14 - A18 - GD -4

Looking from a sample of games that only includes Rodgers' period of improvement...
McDermott: P7 - W4 - D1 - L2 - F8 - A8 - GD 0
Rodgers: P7 - W3 - D2 - L2 - F12 - A10 - GD +2

Clearly I have a certain bias, although I believe I'm not letting it inform my post very strongly. Especially seeing as I didn't really know for sure what those stats would show when I was working them out.

Hoop Blah - maybe it's just my perception, and we all know my opinion of Rodgers was low, but I see a lot to be encouraged in performance which I expect to lead into results, which IMO it already is doing. There is denying though, that Rodgers had a major positive impact when he finally reverted to a sensible 4-4-2 formation in the main part and we then started to look more convincing and pick up a few quick results.

I blame the fans for the recent success. Their earlier booing has turned around our season. And now because of their singing and cheering the team is continuing to play well.

I'd also like to add one thing to people rubbishing our F.A. Cup run. Please look at our form pre and post our F.A. Cup defeat against Cardiff last season. And the defeat against Spurs the season before, for that matter......it affects league form.

Maccy D imo.

Griffin has made a huge impact since coming into the team as well.

Essentially a bog-standard 442 (or something close) - that the players are comfortable with. Also, confidence in MIlls and Shlong coming on - and losing - a ton.

The fact that McDermott is good and Rodgers was sh1t

Players playing in their correct positions
Cummings in the reserves
Not arseing about playing pretty traingles in our 6 yard box for 10 minutes at a time
Luck ie scoring more not missing 17 sitters every match
Relatively consistant 11
