CMRoyal Text from a Rovers supporting mate "has done a job in the midfield holding role".

That'd make sense - it's a position nobody has yet to make their own. Could pair up with Jem?

No it wouldn't - central midfield is our strongest position. We currently have a choice of five players to play that role. It would be ludicrous to suggest he'd play anywhere other than centre back which is where we need more mobile experience than we currently have there.

I think he'll play holding midfield.

Well done there Mr Hammond and Mr McDermott.
That's a decent player we've got there thinking about it.

Khizanishvili, who has represented his country 55 times, is equally adept at playing centre back or right back and can also operate as a holding midfielder.

Very happy with this. McDemott has done a good job at giving players a set position in the team, and to stick with it. By signing whats-his-name it means Cisse and Bryn can concentrate on their midfield duties rather than central defence.

Er, thought we'd been okay at the back, especially with Griffin coming as joint first-choice.

Isn't this bloke slower than anyone else in the history of the world ever, though?

Anyway, onto more important matters - apparently his missus would give Millsy's other half a run for her money in the "yes I would like to" category. Anyone got a (normal sized) piccy?

Apparently he can play defensive mid as well.... so maybe him and the sig starting? Either way, a bit more cover in defence should be good.

In the situation we are in, I would be highly surprised if we were signing a premiership player on loan, to just warm the bench and add cover. I expect to see him start near enough very game.

Definitely will be a good player at this level - but why? I can maybe see him in central midfield alongside Karacan, which nobody has made their own yet.

FiNeRaIn central midfield is our strongest position.

FiNeRaIn Happy with this. Granted he's made some poor mistakes this season but who hasn't? I would like to see how he plays in a side with confidence before I give up on him.

Or to put it another way, the side had no confidence because he was in it? in the 3 games ive seen in 2010, Inga looks a diff player completely now he is back at Left Side CB and not wondering what the fck Pearce is going to do next.

That said, i dont like Loanees at all. Cop Out signings. Hate the Loan System full stop. Teams that have loads of them are usually only heading one way.

This thread is becoming a broken record.

Why? Because he has massive experience in the premier league, europe, and international, and probably because one of Ingimarsson or Pearce is leaving. Central midfield? we have Karacan, Cisse, Gunnarsson, Tabb, Howard, Sigurdsson and Matejovsky so why the hell would we sign him to play in midfield?????

Cos none of them are any good at helping out the back 4

If he can tackle and is strong, plus can actually pass the ball to a team mate, I'd happily see him in in the middle instead of Cisse, Gunnar or Karacan (his time will come). Then maybe Marek, Sig or Howard can play more freely alongside him (none of whom can tackle or seem particularly strong).

mx Adds interest to the perennial quiz question - How many Reading players can you name with a Z in their surname.

Bollox, they all do both, the only thing is none of them do it as well as Sidwell did. Unless we want to revert to 4-5-1, our system will never incorperate a totally defensive minded midfielder, therefore we don't need one.
