Ian Royal cheeky look at Smith if we get decent money for Marek

Even if Pompey said yes then would he really drop down a division to a club struggling at the bottom of the league that has just sacked the manager he had a good relationship with? - i doubt it, no point wasting our time (knowing how long it takes us to get players) on it.

brendywendy as a winger hes like kebe, but with less pace, and less end product
but can take free kicks, and scores more goals

hes a had a few chances, and not shown enough in any of them
short of giving him an undeserved run in the team to see if this works, i fail to see why he deservesa place in the squad, let alone 1st team

keep on loan or sell IMO

Yeah, just like Kebe!!

I still think Henry can come good unless there really is a problem with his attitude. He's certainly got the confidence and a bit of arrogance about him, but I don't see that as a problem. What would be a problem is if he's unwilling to put in his shift, listen or learn.

I do think it's funny that Ian is all for giving Davies a place in the first team but at the same time getting rid of Henry who has proved to be just as good if not better.

agree with him tbf
and dont think henry has shown he is better than davies has- certainly not while out on loan, and not for us either imo
just judging from the times ive seen him play.

ideally id still keep him, hopefully hell be better next year

Henry has done wonders when out on loan.

Davies has too of course, and recently at similar levels but usually in a league below. Davies for me will be a decent League One box to box attacking midfielder (a poor mans Gerrard or Lampard) because he's a hustle and bustle player but I can't see him quite having enough about him to make it any higher.

Henry on the other had has more technical ability and has the natural quality to play at Championship level at least if he learns to harness it. That's quite a big if of course, but when he's played for us in this league he still caused teams problems.

I'd love Davies to make it as well, but I'm not convinced he can whilst being as sloppy in possession as he sometimes is.

Henrys old man played for our (sunday) footy team and James was with our youths....he's a great lad and not arrogant at all, i think he's just a little naive and inexperienced considering he was playing for Woodley Saints not so long ago

As with Nathan (Tyson) i think he just feels frustrated that he's not getting given a chance at Reading, considering he'll do no worse than the players we have currently....

Its a huge step from League 2 to the Coca Cola Championship and hopefully he can work on it. Still, scored against Chelski so that proves that he can do something! :D

TS falls foul of the more than 2 clubs in one season rule.

Think it's a Fifa/UEFA rule isn't it?

Actually you're right - i thought it was only clubs in the same division but the rule is you can register for 3 clubs in 1 season but only play for 2 of them......so we could sign Smith but not play him until next season

How do loans work? - can you loan the player with a view to a perm move?

You can sign a player on loan and have part of that loan contract that you'll sign him at the end of the season.

Can you use that to get round the 2 club rule though? I've no idea...what was the situation with Liverpool and Mascherano?

Desperately need a new RB.
Midfield is strong.
Could do with a player who can play on the wing / up top.
Suppose we could do with another defender with Ingi and Gunn on the way out, too.

The PL just let them do it. Only works if you are a top 4 club our your most famous players works for the FA though....

We DON'T NEED to strengthen any part of our squad.

Except for our strikers because we can't score obviously... and our defence because we're leaky... and our keeper because Feds is shaky... and our midfield because we're yet to find a pair that works consistently.... and our full backs because we don't have a right back and our left back is a loanee.... and our left winger because he doesn't exist...

Other than that we're FINE.

McAnuff does not need to be replaced.

Royal_Delight Can someone please tell me why do you guys want Henry to be sold? At the moment, he is one of the better wingers at the club although he is unproven at this level. A football with a great ability and scoring goal from midfield at every club he has been in ( incl. reserves). Why oh why would you want him to be sold!?

He is not ,in my opinion , a good player. I have watched him in the reserves where he looked ok ,but when given a chance he has not impressed me. He does strut around the place with his " look at me Im a famous footballer " attitude but sorry son , ya not . Prove it on the pitch first. If anyone offers money for him , take it. There are better young uns with better attitudes and ability.ie HRK , Antonio etc

Not sure how you can seriously suggest that Antonio or Robson-Kanu have more ability than Henry!

If he doesn't make it it will be down to attitude and application, not ability.

As for not impressing, did you see his performance away to Birmingham? He looked the part up there and played some passes that would have the Matejovsky fans on here wetting themselves if he'd made them. He also did alright in his other appearances, although wasn't great in one of the games when Kebe was out.
