Silver Fox
West Stand Flash a Chairman who has single handidly ruined this club?

And there's the thing. I cannot see how anyone who has had a ST for 19 years could possibly say this, unless they were mentally unstable. If someone only got into RFC at the start of this season maybe it would an acceptable point of view but otherwise it hinestly begars belief.

Sure, get annoyed that we're not playing well at the moment but don't make shit up

So getting us to a 7th place finish in the Premier League, then resting on his laurels and not investing in the team when it was blindingly obvious it was required, then allowing us to get relegated, by again not investing in the January transfer window when we were struggling, then deciding that after we got relegated he decides to sell all assets the club had, and not replaced them. So all of tht doesn't mean has ruined the club no????

All the clown has to do was invest 5-10 million when we finished 7th and we could have become an established premiership side, like the Wigans, Bolton, Blackburn and he wouldn't be in the position he is in now, nor will he have lost the millions he has, because of his poor financial backing.

Alternatively you could make a couple of hundred million pound, buy the club and then invest whatever you consider necessary

Agree completely. West Stand Flash is as inconsistent with his posts as the team is on a Saturday afternoon.___ West Stand Flash, you don't need to preach what a supporter really is. My point is, you sit there with your inconsistent opinions and you mock the home supporters all the time. There isn't enough of them, they don't sing enough... but then you join in this thread and claim you can't blame supporters for wanting to support someone else? That is as Silver Fox says - mentally unstable, and utterly ridiculous. A supporter supports, a fan blows air. You're a fan.

Hey everyone is entitled to an opinion, we disagree, shock horror. To think a forum is for people to put opinions up, didnt think we all had to agree, would make for awfully boring reading. I believe you chat sh*t, like many on is board.
Everyone is entire to an opinion, if you don't like what I write, just hide me. Not hard is it? Unless of course unless you were educated at Dove House.

You sure you have supported the club for 19 years ?

You have incorrectly stated our position in our pinnacle year as a club, we came 8th Dear.

I can't get out of being a fan of Reading FC!
I go to Portsmouth Uni... Portsmouth is a very football-orientated city, but it doesn't affect my love for the club!
Damn!

Indeed, but a consistant opinion helps of course.

Never change the side you support

by rhroyal » 29 Dec 2009 14:01

However, changing the sport you follow....? England's cricket side is looking useful - I enjoyed going to the Twenty-20 Yorkshire v Lancashire last season. I'm going back to Leeds next year - Leeds Rhinos are a useful Rugby League side. Then if I want to keep my regional loyalty I can continue going to the Mad Stad for London Irish. Options are plentiful. If only severing your ties with your football club was that easy.

You don't change the club you support but is it wrong to go watch another team play?

How about upping your support for a "second team"?
Having said that... Portsmouth aren't exactly doing any better than Reading.

West Stand Flash Would you actually blame any supporters that would do this?
We have a chairman that shows zero backing to the club, so why should fans bother?
I wouldn't blame supporters for not renewing season tickets or even going to watch other teams, but to switch alliegance is fundamentally wrong unless there are exceptional circumstances e.g MK Dons / AFC Wimbledon.

The chairman does all that he is prepared to do, He'll never change and has never indicated anything different. It's not like we have any choice and if you look at other clubs you realise our lot isn't all that bad. We're a small club who have been outperforming.

Whilst I agree that it could be worse, and it could also be argued that we've punched above our weight for a while now, it is still a ridiculous situation that we find ourselves in.

We invested very little in terms of bringing players in when we got to the Premiership, and since then all of our sellable assets in terms of playing staff (barring Sidwell and possibly Lita) have been sold for decent money.

We are also in the second (and last) season of parachute payments, so therefore there has been a lot of money coming into the club, but very little going the other way with regards to investment.

Madejski is a clown for effectively calling in his 'longterm loan' at the first opportunity that we actually had money coming through the doors rather than out of them. Since then his pockets have become deeper and his arms shorter. He's a successful businessman, so he himself should know that you can't just withdraw your investment and expect the club to continue running efficiently.

His talk of becoming self-sufficient is very wise, and is a good vision to have and certainly a positive ambition, but his execution of this has been absolutely terrible.
