Yep, he's only had £3m.

£2m of which he blew on a defender who can't get into a dreadful side.

2 world wars, 1 world cup I don't think we can expect anyone to be doing much shouting at the moment because I don't think any of them have any clue about how they want the boys to play.

This is the watching and observing phase.

I am sure once he begins to suss things out and builds a system he feels will work then he and his assistants will be barking orders out.

oxf*rd off, just oxf*rd off. That's oxf*rd ridiculous. He's had all preseason to work out what everyone can do and what formation to play. He then extended preseason into the actual season to carry on. He's now had 13 competitive matches.

Anyone who still thanks that is watch and observe time, when the team is playing like a bunch of clueless oxf*rd-wits can oxf*rd off and die as far as I'm concerned.

Mate I can understand your frustrations.

But let's calm down a bit. We got a great win away to Preston and a not-too-unreasonable defeat against a top team.

Yet we're focussing on the loss.

Anyone who thinks we can decimate the whole team, the backroom staff, everything and get back to where we were overnight is being a little too optimistic in my opinion. It will take time.

I would like to know what exactly it is in peoples' minds that makes them think we can put together a promotion pushing team in a few weeks. It just doesn't make sense and I have to say I'm rather baffled at where this is all coming from. If building a Premworthy team just needs a few academy players, a couple of loanees, a ragbag of signings of only £3million and a few weeks of preparation then you have to ask whynoone else has cottoned onto this secret formula.

My understanding is that we employed a football manager, not a magician.

I thoroughly understand your anger though - I'm on your side as a fellow upset Reading fan, and after my rantings and ravings against BR before he joined trust me I'd be the first to shout out a smug "I told you so" to all the BR lovers and certain anti-Coppellites who wanted the swap. But rationality has the better of my blue-and-white blooded emotions and looking at the bigger picture I just can't justify it yet. It's very very early days and a very turbulent period. Noone can reaonably make any judgement n the poor lad just yet without looking rash and shortisghted. Roll with it for now. A couple of wins and we'll all be smiling.

Reading till I die.

What a crock of shite! We were lucky as oxf*rd to get a win at Preston. Yesterday we were plain, ordinary shit! And what is worse is that Boro were not that good. If they had any ruthlessness about them they would have put 4 or 5 past us. Big Watch Man is the one talking promotion and play offs. Are you sure we employed a football manager? Well, if we did can he start turning up at training and to the games?

CAN YOU SEE?

We're focusing on piss poor performance after piss poor performance.

Who's asking for a return to 4th you moron. We'd settle for 18th right now.

I'm not asking for a promotion push, or the play offs. I'm asking for a semi-decent performance over 90 minutes and some sign that we might start improving.

This squad is quite capable of mid-table. That is, without an idiot in charge.

I'm not reading or commenting on anything more of what you wrote until you calm down.

You swore at me repeatedly but my post back to you was respectful and friendly.

And yet you come back with this.

I repeat mate, we're on the same side of wanting Reading to do well. Don't turn me against you.

Grrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat signing!!!

Agreed moneywise, but not as bad as Cummings--the MK Dons fans were spot on with their assessment of him and Howard isn't far behind.

You get my vote IR. Pre-season totally oxf*rd away, just like the last SIX transfer windows.

Short-sighted by the Mad Man doesn't begin to cover it!

Fair play. Everyone's entitled to an opinon.

Having said that...

I would agree with ian royal that most people now really don't mind where we finish this season, we just want to see the team come a great deal closer to it's potential and it is so hard to see how that will happen when there is so much tinkering going on and when some of the players we've brought in don't seem to add much. not to mention the formations.

You say that a few wins will make all the difference, but in my opinion, I will be very, very surprised if we will manage back to back wins or even 2 in 3 this side of christmas... in fact i'd go so far as to say 2 in 5.

Prove me wrong Brendan - it's not impossible... but most would surely think it highly unlikely
