SPECULATION John Stead

by URZZZZZZZZ » 25 Aug 2009 11:23

Apparently Keane wants to get rid asap to make funds available for other targets. Now considering Roy Keane's track record with individual players and the fact we need a big striker for our flying V formation, I think Brendan could do worse than sign this lad.

Thoughts?

Good shout. Not a PL player but I have always rather liked him. We could probably get him for £500k.

That's it - he's the one! Sorted.

I think we could do a lot worse.
He is a player who either comes on as sub or seems to get subbed a lot-there must be a reason for that because whenever we see him (Ipswich away last season for example) he scores great goals.
It could well be that he doesn't do enough for his various managers but I wouldn't mind seeing him come to us especially with our very limited options up front.

One I was thinking of, Stephen Thompson at Burnley. Probs again only going to be bit part for them now, but he impressed me at the Madj.

True, I'd have no problems with another youngster coming in if he's from Arsenal.

Thing with Stead is he always starts well at a club then just fades away.

Must be a reason for it, he's had plenty of chances already. Just comes across as not having the desire/mentality to make the grade consistently.

There really isn't much out there. Maybe someone from abroad on a loan, Rodger's obviously fancys himself as a bit of a European style coach, Martinez did a great job at it last season with just picking up people from Spanish B Teams...

He'll require a seven figure fee, surely? Are you trying to put John Madejski on anti-depressants?

Well from what I read Roy Keane is so incensed by him that he will never play under him again. Surely a good time to swoop in with a 'derisory' bid

I'd be excited.

Maybe he's not a premiership player, but he did a damn good impression of one for a while. I'd be interested to see what we could get out of him.

Seven figures probably about right though. Keane may not think much of him, but ultimately it's not him that oks the transfer.

Ipswich fans reckon £500k could get Stead.

I say go get him.

26.

I wonder - does the fact that he seems to have fallen out big-time with Keane make him more appealing, or less so?

Makes no odds really, not to me anyway. Keane is the sort of bloke that would fall out with anyone. This could be a load of rubbish but from looking at Stead and his career, he seems to be the lad that needs an arm round the shoulder and not a bollocking if he's not quite at his best. I can't see Keane being of the caring type.

He might be more suited at a place like this.

He's got a bit of pedigree at this level, if he's one of the people Keane is talking about and available for £500,000 that would be excellent. As it is though just wild specualtion and no fact behind this player.

What exactly has he done to upset Keane so much.

Apart from looking a bit like Greg Halford.
