My mate at work is a Doncaster fan and he said he was average, I didn't want to believe him.

weybridge you make some top posts on general football, but going to have to disagree at this point. If he's still playing like this in 6 months then fair enough agreed, however centre backs take a bit longer to gel into a team and he's joined a sinking ship, its going to be hard for him to adapt. It wasn't him who lost his man for their equaliser.

Mills is a superb signing. Rodgers did very well to sign him from under the noses of Forest, who'd been after him all Summer. Mills will be an integral part of the Reading side promoted to the Premiership in 2011.

Didn't Rodgers say that Mills is "a defender who can play the ball well out of defence and that's what I like about him" ?!?

Some of his passing today made Alex Pearce look like Paul Scholes....

He was either thumping it up the pitch or playing hospital balls & how many headers did he win go to Reading players?

Kieron1981 I wasn't at the match.... but lets just say BBC Berkshire wasn't his biggest fans.... best quote of the night...

"turning circle of the QE2"

Interestingly has shown so much improvement in training since his first game that he has not made it into the starting 11

How is he correct?

Has Mills been a bad signing? Too early to tell.

Did we fail to get promoted in 2011? Well did we?

Ideal Well, there is no way Rodgers is getting us promoted in 2011, as he is no longer our manager. I find it unbelievable that you would want to argue that point.

Where did his comment say that it would be Rodgers getting us promoted in the quote above?

Rodgerite has been a pro-Rodgers guy all along, so don't even try to make some kind of "technicality excuse" here.
Clearly his statement was made, in context with all his other statements to the same effect, under the presumtion that Rodgers would be taking us up.

I am commenting purely on what was written and not the version that is in your head.

Ideal yes, obviously the original poster planned for Rodgers to be replaced by Ferguson, who then would get us promoted in 2011, and knew this all along. Get real.

You really need to get you head clear and comment on what people write and not what you want to believe they wrote.

The quote was merely talking about Mills and that he would be a major part of our promotion team in 2011. The manager is irrelevant.

As it happens, I don't think there is even a slim chance we will get promoted next season, but again that is irrelevant to the point I made.

So you can keep arguing about it if you want, but I have no interest in what thoughts are inside your warped mind and I'll just comment on what I can read in back and white. If you don't like that then go and argue with someone else.

I'm sure you will be replying to this but I won't be around to read it.

I think you struggle to comprehend the concept of a discussion forum.

Seems to me that is the approach taken by about 90% of the people who post on here

Yes, but at least 99% of them don't argue about something they have seen in their mind rather than what others have actually written.

I don't know about that

Ideal feels vindicated that all his anti-Rodgers posturing has been proven right. And considering the amount of stick he gets on here for stating his opinion from afar (yes, I know he doesn't get to see many games), I think he has every right to make the most of it.

Where I disagree with him is in his, dare I say, Royalee-like devotion towards SJM. That doesn't wash with me.

Have you ever read "The Art of Captaincy" by Mike Brearley? He mentioned a letter that he had received from someone which included an italian proverb "If you want to know if a fish is bad, look at it's head".

I have two seed catalogues in front of me. One is a glossy brochure, the other has plain and simple facts about the seeds. Which are the better quality seeds? Only use of the seeds will tell me. Could the same be said of Football Managers?
