79Royal 0-2.

We'll find it hard against a team that battles. It'll be Christmas before we start to get into a rythm. In between now and then, we'll get some great wins, mixed with very poor results. A good run in the second half of the season may propel us into the playoffs, but our squad have a lot to learn.

Out of curiosity, does anyone else think of Heroes and the morally grey Horn Rimmed Glasses man (Noah) when they read HRK on here?

I expect it's just me.

SteveRoyal  It's the first game of the season, we've just come off the back of a terrific pre-season and we've still got those pessimistic oxf*rd-ers on here predicting a loss.

What terrific pre-season was that - we've hardly had any competitive games. We've beaten the usual amateurs in Sweden and now got one good result against Chelsea. That's not terrific in my eyes. I'd say OKIsh.

I agree. Then again, it looks pretty fantastic next to Newcastle's!

3 - 1

Long, HRK and Pearce

We will concede early on from a set-piece and then go on and completely batter them for the rest of the game :D

I thought it was pretty good to draw against Chelsea until I read that a lot of other championship teams had drawn against Premiership opposition. Still, I enjoyed the game and being 2-0 against them for most of it.

We'll concede early, Kebe will confuse himself all afternoon but have the occasional break down the wing with one good cross and a little burst of pace witch convinces everyone we have a player here, several awful crosses also. Shane Long will require several touches to bring that little white thing under control, Cisse will leave a leg out for buck toothed Robbie Earnshaw to fall over and then score from the resulting penalty, the sound of drums will be heard, Reading chants will be muttered and we'll all go home frustrated and disillusioned at the lack of signings and commitment in the transfer market after another summer of sales.

Final score:
Reading 1 Nottingham Forest 3. (Church), (Earnshaw 2, some other chap in a red shirt)
