Good point - I haven't heard anything recently, and had completely forgotten that we were fans were due to be caused much more hassle. However since this was proposed I've taken measurements and no longer buy food nor drink from the mad stad anyway now. Get to the ground 5mins before kick off - enjoy proper prematch beers at proper beer prices elsewhere now. I go there to watch the footy and ST is now the only money they'll get from me now.

Not heard any more about this, but will say that at the last home game I was served by a couple of really nice young men, who got my order right, got my change correct and had a bit of banter with me.

Its a farce. I have a ST in the area they are doing it, and it hasnt saved any time at all. All that happens is people queue up, order, have their food given to them, give the server the card, find out there isnt enough money on the card, have to leave the food on the counter for 5 mins whilst they go and put money on their card at a different counter, have to wait to collect their food.

Well done RFC

Be fair, it's not that hard to check you've got enough on the card. You'd need to check if you had enough cash in your wallet !

I can't see the scheme actually being worth rolling out but that's at least partially because too many fans just can't be bothered.

But you can check your wallet at any time and in any place. Therefore it is harder to check that you've got enough on your card. Fans can't be bothered because it is more bother!

Well that's not at all logical !

It's no harder to check the balance and add a bit on than it is to check your wallet and then go to a cash point and get more money out.

It doesn't make the scheme worthwhile, but you only need to read some of the comments on HNA to see there is at least an element of people just not wanting to do it.

Which is 100% their right, and a scheme like this is never going to work unless you get people to take part.

I've never been convinced the scheme could be fully rolled out, and I've seen nothing to change that view. That's at least in part because I never thought they'd persuade enough people to accept it.

Wasn't the Oyster system on the tube initially unpopular and seen as 'inconvenient' but is now quite well accepted ? I guess that was never 100% compulsory...

Oyster was cheaper than cash tho, they can hardly put the prices up for cash, and I cant see any way they will reduce the prices for the card, all in all a crap idea IMHO, people have cash, so just take it, sod all these clever bastards trying to introduce new ways to pay, while taking a slice no doubt.

That's the issue though. Temporary workers dealing with a lot of cash. Some of which, might actually find its way into the till. A cash-less card payment system cuts that out completely. Presumably they'll be weighing up that positive, against the seemingly longer queues, decreased revenue and pissed-off fans.
