Have a fair bit of knowledge about Boyd having watched him numerous times up here, there is very little chance he would fit into any system we play, we are known as a hard working side with bags of energy and forwards who have the ability to cover right accross the front line, one of the biggest critisisms of Boyd up here is his lack of effort in covering back and lack of hold up play, he is very much the "old" type of front man who only comes to life when the ball is in the box, a bit like the Ally Mcoist role when he was in the highly successful "7 in a row" Championship winning Rangers side. I just can't see how SSC would fit him into the side and when you look at his price £3.5m, is he would score more goals for us than the £600,000 bargain basement buy that Noel Hunt has proven to be.

If we were to fork out that kind of money I think it would be better spent trying to get Steven Fletcher from Hibs.

I've only seen him a few times on the telly, and read a few things about him too, but he looks more like our type of player than Boyd does.

He'd also be a bit more like Kitson too, although probably not quite so intelligent and quick footed around the edge of the box.

Howser, what do you think of him seeing as you've probably seen more of him?

Hibs couldn't command that sort of figure either, so maybe more in line with what we can stretch too. Good call though.

Boyd's got an attitude problem and Fletcher is unpredictable and unproven. I wouldn't waste money on either of them. The only realistic SPL signing i would go for is Christophe Berra at Hearts as a future CB/RB to replace Ivar/Doobs and/or understudy Liam.

Transfer fees aren't generally based on the club the player was at, more on the value of the player.

But richer clubs, being under less pressure to sell, can get higher fees. Ironically, I think that's part of the explanation for the good money we've got for players in theast year or so.

How much did Brown go for? Wasn't he at little ol' Hibs?

I'm not sure that's often the case. Big clubs need to offload players they don't need to make space for players they do. They'll get higher fees because the quality of player they are selling is often higher.

Rumours are that Fletcher may be going to 'Boro for about £2.5m.

They were selling to Sunderland, the point is mute.

Having seen his sending off in the Edinburgh derby on Sunday, I'd have to agree with the lack of intelligence bit.

That was the only time I've seen him and he wasn't involved much before his sending off

I dont think the sending off was any worse than Kitson's up at Old Trafford last season and certainly didnt show as little intelligence as Lita when he got sent off against Charlton

I just looked into his record and thats the first time he's ever been sent off in 170 games, and he's only picked up about 13 bookings too. Not a bad record really

Was Lita sent off ?

I remember the Bank Holiday game where he probably should have been, so I guess if it's that one your point is kind of valid.

Same game I think as when Poll gave Pardew the nod that if he didn't sub one of his players he would probably get sent off.
