Scarface Coppell will never learn his lesson. We went 2nd and now he'll think the squad is good enough and stay loyal to the players. Will he ever learn that in the modern game you need to try and improve the squad every transfer window. Coppell out.

shu'p!!

he s on record himself about needing at least two players every window to keep things fresh
and there isnt a january or summer window in memory where he didnt buy someone for us

surman and tommy smith would seem like a 1st team improvement to me, if thats really who we are after

No fanks. Never been good enough for the Premiership which is supposedly where Reading want to be.

Surman would be good and that other lad down there Lallana + a decent centre forward and job done.

you may subsititute your own players as you see fit, the point is, we will be bringing someone in who a proportion of people will consider good enough to move us forward, or at least keep us where we are

Coppell has a fairish track record of taking players supposedly 'not good enough' and making them into decent players (or even internationals...)

I recall he had about 20 of them at Reading just a short while ago and they rewrote the record books then had a decent stab at the big boys !

I'm unconvinced that a player being written off as 'not good enough' by anyone on HNA (not just Jay...) means they aren't worth looking at.

Tommy Smith ahs never really been a regular goalscorer anywhere,in fact with 12 this year it's his highest goal tally ever, this is for a lad that has played the majority of his career up front although in recent years and now for Watford he's playing wide right. He'll be 28 years old at the end of the season, not proven above Championship level and costing of more than £2million, repeat NO Fanks.

Anyway it's an opinion, you don't have to agree with it, neither do I agree with all of yours. Deal with it.

Biggest thing with Smith is could he partner Doyle? Seems a no to me, nice and tidy player. But to improve we need someone who partners Doyle better than NHunt. Can't see that being Smith...

Not really.

IMO, we need someone who offers something different to both yet could partner both.

Or even Leroy Lita. Or Shane Long, come to that.

Have always liked Robbie Blake. A really clever player who knows how to link up with players. He doesn't score so many but he would be a great addition to the squad bringing us something different.

Probs would cost a lot though.

I don't agree or disagree with Smith as an option to be honest. I just don't take the informed opinion of many on here as a reliable guide. Everyone we sign is rubbish and all the players we miss out on are world beaters....

Not sure what 'deal with it' means. Are you thinking I'm having some kind of inner turmoil ?

Really? I find it split about 50:50 between that and the exact opposite (for evidence, remember the Cisse/Fae threads).

Also remember any player who leaves us immediately becomes shite.

Birmingham have signed Bouazza on loan.

Disappointing we missed out on him. Would have given Hunty some competition

I'll repeat. Mcgoldrick, lallana and surman would all improve our side, all great young prospects who wouldn't demand big fee's due to southamptons financial state. These are EXACTLY the type of signings we should make, why can't coppell just sign them, they are obviously good enough ffs.

Dagenham & Redbridge defender Magnus Okuonghae is attracting interest from clubs in the Championship and League One.

The Nigerian-born stopper, who can play at right-back or centre-half, has had an impressive season for the Daggers.

The 22-year-old, who began his career with Fulham, has enjoyed spells with Rushden & Diamonds, St Albans and Crawley Town.

He is now emerging as one of the most promising defenders in League Two, which has seen the likes of Charlton, Reading, Colchester, Leyton Orient and Peterborough checking on his displays.

Okuonghae's current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and Dagenham are anxious to offer him fresh terms.

If no new deal is struck then the Daggers would no doubt look to cash in on him before he is able to discuss a possible move at the end of the season, although as he is only 23 when the campaign finishes they would be due compensation.

Looks solid as a rock.

Do we need a Centre back/Right back though?

One can only guess at the reaction amongst Reading fans had we signed those 5 players on loan. Panic signings is one phrase I would expect to see and hear a lot of.

Very much in the same way that anyone else who signs someone is 'gambling their future' of the player they sign is rubbish anyway. Usually the sort of line we here from yourself.

Inner turmoil? No but you seem to have problems in accepting anyone else opinion on anything, the club is ALWAYS right in your eyes. It's fine to have that opinion and I respect it, just don't agree with it.
