Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Fulham (H) LIVE on FSC

Royal Soupanoodle There could be large contingent of your fellow countrymen on show in this game, which might help the ratings :)

VaLOLid! I had forgotten about that possibility as well. So far the ratings are so dismal that any little bit helps. What is wrong with this country? Ah well, their loss I think.

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Fulham (H) LIVE on FSC

by RoyalChicagoFC » 10 Apr 2008 19:21

RoyalChicagoFC Okay, Fulham at home on Saturday the 12th is up next and appears on the FSC calendar as a live screening set to go from 10:00 AM Eastern. It originally had been scheduled to repeat same-day from 11:00 PM, but FSC have bumped it for a first-time delayed screening of a different match. One repeat screening on FSC has been scheduled for 3:00 AM next Wednesday, which is midnite on the West Coast

In addition to that, Setanta's listings currently indicate that the Fulham match also will screen on a same-day delayed basis from noon Eastern on Setanta US --right after the final whistle goes-- and that it will repeat on Wednesday from noon. It is a well established fact that Setanta are a bunch of imbeciles who cannot be trusted, so take those listings with a grain of salt

With regard to match highlights, the Premier League Review show is set to screen twice on FSC: from 8:00 PM on Sunday and again from 5:00 PM on Monday. FSC's weekly Super Sunday+ highlights and commentary is set to go for 90 minutes from 1:00 PM on Sunday (all times Eastern)

The match away to Arsenal on Saturday 19th April was moved to a 12:45 PM BST kickoff, and it has been added as a live screening on Setanta US from 7:45 AM Eastern (and we can pretty much bank on that). As of now, it is scheduled to repeat from 7:45 PM on the day and again on Monday the 21st from noon (times Eastern and on Setanta US)

We still don't know anything beyond that. To see all of the above plus other listings of interest in a handy day-planner format, please see the first post to this thread

Indeed --scratch the bit in red with regard to Setanta (IDIOTS!). They're not showing the Fulham match at all and instead are showing West Brom v. Watford from 12:15 PM Eastern on Saturday.

Everything else still operative --RFC-FFC live on FSC from 10 Eastern on Saturday, etc.

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Arsenal (A) LIVE on Setanta US

by RoyalChicagoFC » 16 Apr 2008 14:36

Confirming and appending: the match away to Arsenal on Saturday 19th April, is set for a live screening on Setanta US from 7:45 AM Eastern. It's an early-bird speciaLOL, so our friends on the West Coast will need to be spry by 4:45

The match is scheduled to repeat twice on Setanta, first 7:45 PM Saturday and once more on Monday the 21st from noon (times Eastern).

Match highlights will screen during normal breaks in the rest of the weekend's action on FSC and on FSC's weekly Super Sunday+ highlights and commentary show that runs for an hour and a half from 1:00 PM Eastern on Sunday. In addition, the Premier League Review Show is scheduled to go first-time from 8:00 PM on Sunday and once again from 6:00 PM on Monday (times Eastern and on FSC)

Looking ahead, here's the good news: FSC have added Wigan away on Saturday the 26th for a same-day delayed screening from 2:00 PM Eastern on the 26th --two hours after the final whistle

The not so good news is that FSC are being a bit tentative about this --on a normal Saturday, they're showing Serie A fare in midafternoon, but all Serie A fixtures for that weekend remain scheduled for the Sunday. Serie A are notorious for (among other things) giving very late notice of fixture rearrangements; it also could be, however, that with the end of the season approaching, they've switched to playing all matches at the same hour so as to make it appear that the league may be on the up and up

So we'll see, and for now we can pencil in the Wigan match 2:00 PM on Saturday the 26th on FSC, and I'll update if there are any changes

We still don't know anything about Tottenham at home on 3rd May or Derby away on 11th May (and I doubt that we'll know about the latter until the preceding Tuesday at the soonest), but I'll advise as soon as I learn anything

So that'll do it for now, and to see all of the above plus other listings of interest in a handy day-planner format, please see the first post to this thread

Had to bring this back to the front page. Any word on Serie A messing us up for a delayed Saturday viewing on FSC? Thanks in advance Chi, great work as always.

Nope, we appear to be good to go for Wigan @ 2:00 PM Eastern on Saturday on FSC (four hours' delay, with kickoff on TV coming two hours after the real-time final whistle).

In addition, FSC have added Totting Ham @ home on 3rd May as a live screening.

I updated the first post yesterday minutes after I found out, and I'll do a full weekly update tomorrow morning.

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Wigan (A) SDD on FSC

by RoyalChicagoFC » 23 Apr 2008 15:01

Okay then...

Wigan away on Saturday the 26th remains set for a same-day delayed screening on FSC from 2:00 PM Eastern

FSC's Saturday lineup goes Sunderland-Boro live from 10:00 AM, followed by Tottenham-Bolton on immediate delay from noon and then Wigan-RFC from 2:00 (times Eastern). Please note that FSC/Setanta will be slipping highlights into normal breaks in the action, so breaks during halftime and between the earlier games might be good times to mute the telly and run for a sarnie or whatever if one wishes to watch the match in full in blissful ignorance

Just one repeat screening of the Wigan match is on the schedule, and it falls at the ungodly hour of 3:30 AM on Thursday 1st May (12:30 AM on the West Coast)

Opportunities to see match extended match highlights will come on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM on FSC's Super Sunday+ highlights and commentary show that runs for 90 minutes and on the Premier League Review Show, which goes from 8:00 PM on Sunday and once more on Monday from 6:00 PM (times Eastern and on FSC)

As noted, FSC have added Tottenham at home on 3rd May for a live screening from 10:00 AM Eastern, with a delayed screening from 3:00 AM Sunday (midnight Saturday/Sunday on the West Coast) and perhaps more to be added during the following week

We still don't know anything about Derby away on 11th May and likely won't until the preceding Tuesday at the soonest --but of course I'll advise as soon as I know anything

Travelers, expats and natives also should note that every match from the Euros will screen live here on the ESPN famiLOLy of networks beginning with the first kick on 7th June. Before that, the FA Cup Final will screen live on a PPV/pay-at-the-pub basis (and be repeated numerous times beginning a few days after on FSC), and both the Champions League Final and UEFA Cup Final will screen live and "for free" on cable (ESPN2 and FSC, respectively)

To see all of the above plus other listings of interest (Champions League and UEFA Cup semis not least among them) in a handy day-planner format, please see the first post to this thread

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Tottenham (H) LIVE on FSC

by RoyalChicagoFC » 29 Apr 2008 23:22

Confirmation of Tottenham and news about Derby follow --but first, and for the masochistic insomniacs in our midst, FSC's one and only repeat screening of last Saturday's match away to Wigan is scheduled for 3:30 AM on Thursday 1st May (12:30 PM on the West Coast). Have fun with that

As we already knew, Tottenham at home on this coming Saturday 3rd May is set for a live screening on FSC from 10:00 AM Eastern

The match is scheduled to repeat in full on FSC from 3:00 AM Eastern on Sunday (midnite Saturday/Sunday on the West Coast) and once more on Wednesday 7th May from 5:00 PM Eastern

Match highlights are set to go during regular breaks in the weekend Prem action on FSC and on FSC's weekly Super Sunday+ highlights and commentary show that runs for an hour on Sunday from 1:00 PM Eastern. Also, the weekly Premier League Review Show is set to screen just once, and that at its normal time of 8:00 PM Eastern on Sunday on FSC

Fresh news has arrived regarding the season's last match, Derby away on Sunday week 11th May, and it's hardly the best: its first scheduled screening comes on a same-day delayed basis on Setanta US from 11:00 PM Eastern (8:00 PM on the West Coast)

Those who may seek to avoid spoilers in the meantime should be advised that all Prem matches go at the identical hour of 3:00 PM BST/10:00 AM EDT and that weekly highlights shows will screen on both FSC and Setanta well before the match in full finally rolls at 11:00 at nite

The only remaining hope for better news --and it's an awfully small one-- lies in the fact that Setanta have yet to announce a selection for the live match to screen on their Xtra channel from 10:00 AM Eastern. Frankly speaking, I doubt that we'll have anything to celebrate once Setanta get around to informing us

So this is what we know as of now. If anything worthy of general notice should change, I'll jump on it as fast as I can and chuck it in here

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Derby (A) 4:00 PM SUN on Setanta US

by RoyalChicagoFC » 08 May 2008 19:20

Righty right right then, kids --Setanta US have moved the delayed screening of Sunday's match away to Derby to 4:00 PM Eastern time/1:00 PM Pacific (it originally was set to go from 11:00 PM Eastern)

Let me give the full schedule for the last day --when all kickoffs go at the same hour of 10:00 AM Eastern-- and then some suggestions for those who wish to avoid spoilers before the delayed screening:

7:00 AM CCC Playoff Semifinal/First Leg: Watford v. Hull live on Setanta US
10:00 AM Chelsea v. Bolton live on FSC
10:00 AM Wigan v. Utd live on Setanta US (repeats from 7:00 PM)
10:00 AM Pompey v. Fulham live on Setanta Xtra
12:00 Noon Everton v. Newcastle delayed on FSC
12:30 PM Pompey v. Fulham repeats on Setanta US
2:00 PM Serie A: Inter v. Siena delayed on FSC (repeats from 3:00 AM Monday)
2:15 PM Brum v. Blackburn delayed on Setanta US
4:00 PM Derby v. Reading first-time delayed on Setanta US
4:00 PM Super Sunday+ weekly highlights and commentary show on FSC (60 min.)
5:00 PM Serie A: Roma v. Atalanta delayed on FSC
7:00 PM Totting Erm v. Liverpuddle delayed on FSC
9:00 PM Premier League Review Show first-time on FSC and Setanta US --highlights from Pride Park

Now, the U.S. platforms do seem to try to avoid giving away spoilers on the last day, as do match commentators on the Premier League's global English-language audio feeds --but that doesn't mean that word won't leak along the way, so sensible precautionary news blackout tactics are advised. It also may not be a bad idea to avert one's eyes and mute the TV volume or just leave the room altogether during halftime and between match telecasts, just to be on the safe side

When the match goes at 4:00 on Sunday, FSC will be screening an hour-long edition of their Super Sunday+ weekly highlights and commentary show, and no doubt they will be speaking --and in the past tense-- of the match of greatest concern to us, so maybe stay away from FSC during that hour unless you want to learn outcomes

The weekly Premier League Review Show is set to roll highlights on both FSC and Setanta US from 9:00 PM on Sunday (that's an hour later than normal on FSC)

The match is scheduled to repeat in full on Setanta US from 6:00 PM Eastern on Tuesday. FSC will have the Review Show for a second and final time on Wednesday from 1:00 PM Eastern, and it'll end 45 minutes before FSC show the UEFA Cup Final from the first kick

I believe that this covers the matter. If Setanta find a way to bollix this up, then they alone will be the ones to blame; the only information that I can pass along is that which, after all, those dunces provide

Not much else to say, really. To see full listings of upcoming fare of interest in a handy day-planner format, please see the first post to this thread. Have a splendid summer

Chi, what was that live venue finder site you posted earlier in this thread? I am going to be in Camas, WA this Sunday. I will have my computer, so I can watch the Pompey-Fullham game live on Setanta broadband, then the delayed Reading broadcast. But it might be fun to hit a pub if I can find one near there. The closest big city is Portland, OR (about 15-20 min away.)

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV

Right, there've been some changes in the landscape, and that includes TV.

Coca-Cola League Championship matches and other Football League fare screen at irregular intervals on Setanta Sports US, a satellite channel (#615 on the DirecTV menu, for instance) that any football pub worthy of the name has hooked up, but it can be harder to find in hotel rooms and at private residences; planning ahead is strongly encouraged.

Because the Football League made some changes effective last season --there is no longer a stand-alone Friday nighter, for instance, which used to screen live on Setanta US-- Championship and Football League fare has been harder to come by of late, although it's usual for Setanta US to screen Sunday's stand-alone match played after the featured Prem match goes final.

The rule of thumb is that any fixture rearranged for an odd time for UK TV has a better chance of being shown over this side, whether live or on delay, but it's no guarantee.

The broadcast schedule for the coming season is not yet out, but it's likely that Setanta will have the curtain-raiser away to Forest on live, given that it's a stand-alone match and that the Prem doesn't kick off until the following weekend; start checking for the listings (link below) two weeks before the match.

Both Setanta US and FSC will continue to screen live and delayed Prem fare on matchdays and throughout the week, and ESPN2 and Setanta US remain the host networks of Champions League matches from the group stage all the way to the final. FSC also shows World Cup and Euro qualifying fare, England friendies, FA Cup ties and England international matches at the junior levels; for England's full international matches, it's a matter of pay-per-view/pay-at-the-pub until the matches screen for free on FSC on a few days' delay.

Useful links:

Setanta US TV schedule (*link changed over the summer; now updated here)
Fox Soccer Channel printable weekly schedules gateway (use links to .pdf files)
FSC monthly first-air schedule (Prem; browse for other leagues, FA Cup, etc.)
ESPN networks schedule (U.S. channels are ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNDeportes; others are international)
LiveSoccerTV.com listings

Venue finder from Setanta US
Another from FSC
U.S. ZIP (post) Code lookup for use in above venue finder location fields
Yahoo! Maps for location lookups by address, with driving directions between locations

That should do it for me. If the inclination strikes, I may update with any news of live or delayed match screenings over here, but the links provided above should suffice.

De nada, Señor.

Setanta split portions of their North America sub-site into U.S. and Canadian sections, so I had to update the link above. Of course, this being Setanta and all, such does not mean that we'll be getting advance schedule information out of those dumbshoiytes any quicker.

Should know one way or t'other about the curtain raiser away to Forest by Tuesday the 29th of this month, and perhaps a day or two sooner than that. Unless they've arranged to show hurling or egg chasing at 8:15 AM Eastern time on Sunday 10th August, there's reason for optimism.

Know hope.

Reading FC on U.S. TV: Forest (A) DELAYED on Setanta US

by RoyalChicagoFC » 29 Jul 2008 13:33

Forest (A) is now set for a same-day delayed screening on Setanta US from 1:00 PM Eastern U.S. time on Sunday 10th August.

With the actual match kicking off at 1:15 PM BST/8:15 AM EDT, it's on 4 hours and 45 minutes' delay. Instead of showing the match live, Setanta have opted for Aussie egg chasing followed by the Community Shield.

It is recommended that those who would prefer live-streaming options check the watch-on-the-Web thread in this forum for the how-to.

If there are any changes and/or additions to the schedule --and here's hoping against all hope that a live screening on Setanta Xtra would be added-- I'll advise.

For details of TV arrangements in the States for 2008/9, please consult the first post to this thread.

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Forest (A) DELAYED on Setanta US

by RoyalChicagoFC » 06 Aug 2008 16:05

Reminder: Forest (A) remains set to go from 1:00 PM Eastern U.S. time on Sunday 10th August. The match kicks off at 1:15 PM BST/8:15 AM EDT, so it's set to screen here on 4 hours and 45 minutes' delay

Addendum: Setanta US have scheduled two repeat screenings of Sunday's match. The first is set to go from 8:00 PM on Monday the 11th (right after Brum v. Sheff Y'all repeats in full), and the second rolls from 12:45 PM on Thursday the 14th (times Eastern U.S.; take care to make conversions for time zones as appropriate)

Nothing else to report at this time. Thin grueLOL this season as compared to the last two when it comes to matches on TV. Will update as necessary

Late addendum 9th August 9:30 PM EDT: Setanta have added a same-day repeat screening for 8:30 PM Eastern on Sunday nite. No other changes; see above for additional repeat screenings

It's on Setanta US tomorrow, Sunday, first-time delayed from 1:00 PM Eastern (which is about three hours after it actually ends)

It screens again from 8:30 PM same day and twice more: from 8:00 PM on Monday and one last time on Thursday from 12:45 PM (times Eastern and on Setanta US)

Setanta US is the exclusive home of Championship, League One and League Two fare here

Others may know about live streams. Meantime, keep an eye on the U.S. TV thread here in The Team forum for news and updates as warranted
