1871royals Im more confident about Fae now then I was 3 months ago. I seem to remember one of our coaching staff saying he was “flying” in training and he was definitely going to be on the bench for the boro game. I think he could make an impact. The 2 league games I remember him starting (Bol and West Ham), he played okay, considering the circumstances (out of position and first games in new country).

i always thought the fans, and the club to some extent were guilty of wanting him dumped in the reserves too soon, the guy is young in a foreign country that speaks a language he doesnt, and plays football in a way he is not accustomed to, and mostly on the RW, where he wasnt comfortable either.

matejovsky has benefitted from a run in the team, and im sure fae would have too,

With all those doubts you would have thought we would have got him for much less.
I think the fans expected a ready-made player for the sizeable amount that the club paid for him.

winchester_royal Secondly, the Kiston Doyle partnership wasn't great against Bolton and the numerous games leading up to it

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Doyle playing right wing in that game?

To be fair though, it may have been a sizable fee for us but in the bigger picture he was a real cheapo. Thus perhaps less surprising that he is not the finished PL product (because if he had been someone else would have been sniffing around with PL sized bid on the table).

I think the general feeling is that it's fair to expect more from what is, for a club our size, a massive signing.
We don't regularly spend that much on players, in fact most of our players have been signed for league one size fees... yet they perform and play regularly.

Sure, if you compare Fae's transfer fee to that of anyone signed by Manchester United it seems like a pocket change sized fee.
But to Reading FC this is actually quite a lot of money, and I think people just want more value for money.
His Malaria buys him some more time, but if he doesn't start featuring regularly soon, it is just another transfer market failure, much like Halford.

I guess it boils down to wanting us to spend our money wisely and make some good signings, rather than continually buying duds.

can we put this to bed

continually buying dudds????? LOLOLOL
its like saying all our transfers have been failures which someone said last week on here

ok, so fae hasnt performed yet, though he has had little chance, & kebe hasnt had time to

but i am very happy with the purchases of matejovsky, rosenior, bikey, cisse,

so actually our transfer dealings arent quite the shambles people make out

I have it on good authority from a source inside the club that our entire squad were the end result of transfers and contract dealings!

Don't tell anyone though...

Sky Sports News last night reported Fae made an appearance from the reserves having returned from Malaria...... wonder how many people looked at a map to figure out where Malaria was.

Ideal it is just another transfer market failure, much like Halford.

Halford turned out to be a superb piece of business. We made a profit from him and damaged Sunderland's season.

Wasn't Malaria the planet that Kirk, Spock, McCoy and a geologist visited?
