Excellent - I see the thread title has been changed

Honestly, some of you people are the football supporting equivalent of Chemical Ali.

Surely there's a mid-point between "A shambles" and "By far the greatest team the world has ever seen?"

It wouldn't appear so from this thread.....

Volvicanus RFC is going to stagnate (which eventually will turn to going down) as long as Mr Mad continues in his role. He's been great for the club and I certainly have nothing against him, but at this stage in the game, his mind-set is akin to someone trying to sell a house. You spend just enough to fix some minor problems, make it look nice on the surface, but you do not spend the money it will take to make it something special or take it further.

He's made this position quite clear in interviews as well ('I think that's for someone else to do at Reading...').

If you look at the Official Site today Andy West Head of Communications, says -

Do you ever post apart from to follow one of mine? Just wondering

'Our ambition is to make Reading one of the 10 biggest lcubs in the country' it's laughable shit like this I wish they would keep in house. As Reading plummet near the relegation zone with no one of any quality on the horizon to join, and they are spouting this crap out again. Bored of it.

I'm sorry but I thought it had been agreed that I would be your official stalker.

You haven't answered my question.

Can you explain this virus of negativity that seems to have overwhelmed you with regards anything Reading FC?

Please go to Devon and support your beloved Torquay....................I like it down there.

I don't think it's appropriate to change the title of a topic during a debate. Some comments relate specifically to the original title and reflect that.

nope. Clearly unless we are safely mid-table then we are not good enough to stay up, it seems. 6 or 7 teams are being relegated this year I assume.

I'm sure that is the club's ambition. They just didn't set the time frame of this season that some fans seemed to expect after last year's 8th place finish.

I think it does. There is the potential for some posts to look even more stupid than what they are. This isn't "The Time Tunnel" where we interfere with the past!

Well he and all his mates at the Mad Stad better pull their fingers out PDQ and do something to stop us sliding backwards over the precipice and into being just another Championship club if we are lucky!

BTW I have ambitions to be the Pope and I'm not even a Catholic!

Fair enough, Schards/ Woodcote, floyd/Rother, Big Ern/exileinleeds everyone needs one.

It's not virus negativity at all. Honest assesments where the team is weak and needs strengthening. Where there will be few if any more decent players come into this club before the summer when it could be late, then the club pump the 'ambition' line again. It's embarassing really.

I do support Torquay as well, always have done but while Reading is my local club they will always have my primary attention. Beautiful part of the country down there.

I can understand why some people are getting frustrated, but put it into perspective.

Reading FC is enjoying it's most successful period in its history with the best manager and players the club has ever had in its history.

The manager is playing the percentages in the best way he knows how, with no little skill, in probably the most competitive league in the world.

Nobody knows what efforts and what problems are being encountered behind the scenes in attracting players to the club.

For those reasons I find the impatience of some fans to be out of proportion with the current state of the club and its league position.

Well my ambition is win £1000M on the lottery, buy RFC and make us the best team in the whole friggin' Universe ...... but I know it isn't ever going to happen!!!

Ambition is all well and good, and without it we may as well all pack up and go home, but Andy, Andy ..... even we RTG's on here can see things are not currently condusive to the Club's stated ambition!

Andy West is a total oxf*rd oxf*rd, total embaressment that we have to have a headline article on the official site to justify that we do actually give shot about the fa cup.

Might as well read 'we have 4000 unsold tickets for tomorrows game, we do care about FA cup actually so please part with your hard earned to watch the reserves. Thanks.'

Not to mention we have to do a bit of a PR job on the club for any prospective buyers who might be looking in! It's all rhetoric to me, I just ignore these comments now, same as "Coppell has money to spend" (doesn't actually say how much!), "We've tried to sign a number of players" (but Ronaldo and Thierry Henry just laughed at us) - could mean anything at all, and, unfortunately, I for one, am not placated by any of their ramblings anymore.
