Coppell magic. He put money on players with passion and right attitude, not price tug other clubs ask.

Current Reading players - priceless!

Believe this to be a list of all players we've bought who cost at least £250k

1. Emerse Fae - £2.5 million
2. Greg Halford - £2.25 million (some dispute on this, some sources also have £2 million)
3. Seol Ki-Hyeon - £1.5 million (+500k based on appearances etc. - not sure if he made the necessary number though)
4. Andre Bikey - £1 million
5. Leroy Lita - £1 million
6. Bobby Convey - £850,000
7. Carl Asaba - £800,000
8. Martin Butler - £750,000
9. Nicky Forster - £750,000
10. Graeme Murty - £700,000
12. Darren Caskey - £700,00
13. Kalifa Cisse - £675,000
14. Scott Murray - £650,000
15. Shaun Goater - £500,00
16. Sean Evers - £500,000
17. Michael Meaker - £500,000 (part of million pound deal with QPR for Osborn)
18. Jim McIntyre - £420,000
19. James Harper - £400,000
20. Barry Hunter - £400,000
21. Linvoy Primus - £400,000 (part of £500k deal with Barnet that saw Lee Hodges join as well)
22. Anthony Rougier - £340,000
23. Chris Casper - £300,000
24. Grant Brebner - £300,000
25. Borislav Mihailov - £300,000
26. Steve Moran - £250,000
27. Craig Maskell - £250,000
28. Jamie Cureton - £250,000
29. Lee Nogan - £250,000
30. Keith Scott - £250,000

Sidwell's fee was undisclosed but must have been somewhere around the £500k mark at least

Kitson was £150k down plus bonuses on various things which would put him into the above list

Doyle was £78k down plus bonuses on various things but not sure if even with the bonuses he makes £250k

Lastly Liam Rosenior should be considered to have cost in the region of 1.5 million as this was a straight swap for Seol who presumably must have been valued at that....

i think we, the press and everyone else gloss over these stats

it really is unbelieveable to have dome what we have with a squad costing so little, and miles less than any of the clubs we are playing against

its pretty stunning, like the storyline for some rubbish american sports film

well done to the club, the management and the players

Kitson cost us £300k in the end.

150 to start, 50 appearance and 100 promotion. That 100 is what kept cambridge afloat through the summer the year we got promoted.

Widely reported in Cambridge

based on the figures above with Sid at 500, Kits at 300 and ignoring exchanges I make that 200k under £20m

How much did Shevchenko cost again?

I wonder how far down the leagues you'd have to go to find a player (excluding free transfers) singed for a cheaper fee than Shane Long.

Is the OS becoming the football equivalent of the EP by using HNA? for its stories?

According to this, it's not.

I concur with Papereyes, soccerbase.com is great.

Winchester Royal
andrew1957 After our fantastic result on Saturday it got me thinking when the last time a Premier League team took to the field without one player that cost more than a million pounds.

In fact the 11 players that started cost RFC a combined total of less than £3 Million. It just goes to show the amazing feat that everyone at the club has achieved to get us where we are today.

The total is as follows:
USA - free
Shorey - £25K
Ingi - £175K (total)
Murty - £825K (total)
Sonko - free
Hunt - free
Convey - £850K
Harper - £400K
Gunnar - £100K (estimated as it was an undisclosed "nominal" fee)
Doyle - £78K
Kitson - £350K (total)

Total - £2,803,000

Nice work, but it's another £50,000 for Shorey, and Gunnarsson was more like £200,000, taking the total to £3,003,000

People say another £50K was paid for Shorey but there is no sign of this on any of the football websites so I think it was a straight £25K. I also doubt we paid as much as £100K for Gunnar when he signed for Watford on a free and at the tine we still thought a £100K was quite a lot so I am not sure £200K would have constituted a "nominal" fee - but if you have any sources which back your point up I would be interested to know.

tony cascarino is the cheapest signing in premiership history, i think he was signed for some footballs and tracksuits, i am not sure if any of our players can beat that

although if i was offered, for example, a pump nozzle for Brynar I'd consider it....

then again the nozzle would probably reject the terms offered by Nicky Hammond :(

Given that that transfer was between two sides that have never played in the Premiership or even the top flight and that the transfer occured in 1981, I'm not sure how that's the cheapest signing in Premiership history.
