brendywendy whilst i agree with most on the whole potato roast/baked discussion

the addition of baked beans to the list is plain wrong

whilst indeed we cook the beans in the pot, or microwave(making them boiled beans)
they are already pre-baked prior to entering the tin

so really they should be called baked beans when cold
and boiled baked beans after warming through

thank you

If you're boiling them you've gone too far. Simmered beans maybe.

no no no

simmering only occurs once the heat is turned down after reaching boiling point. simmering is maintaining boiling point without over heating

...was going to take issue with that but am very glad I checked at least one source before doing so...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simmering

brendywendy I remove my headwear in acknowledgement of your cookery-term knowledge superiority - as I am not a professional chef I have no desire to debate the appropriate temperature and appearance of liquids simmering constantly

why thankyou sir

was bluffing really

I didn't think much of his attitude when he was subbed last season. Quite childish at times. I personally feel that he is a talented player. On his day he is one of the best players in the squad. However it is his inconsistency which is causing him to be dropped and there is only one way for him to get in the first team more often and that is to put a lot more effort in.

Sadly I don't think it is in his nature, he doesn't seem like a natrual fighter to me. Hasn't got the same spirit as say Hunt.

Good luck to him if he wants to leave but with the attitude he showed last season he will find it hard getting into any Premisership club. I hope he improves. I really do.

yeah yeah yeah

enough of that

back to the beans!

and whilst it does say you should boil then reduce th etemp to simmer

it also says:"Water normally begins to simmer at about 94 °C or 200 °F."

and if this is so, we are both right!

the thing is...

he is subbed for a reason, and that is because other players are better then him..

If he showed more passion and more thirst for the game, and put 110% effort for the full 90 mins, i am certain he would get a place more often

Seol tends to shine the last 10 minutes of a game, which isnt what we need

To go back to the roast thing. I do believe that roast beef is the correct nomenclature. Baked potatoes are put dry in an oven. Cakes are baked with nothing added. But beef and most other joints are basted, hence roasted.

Which when you look at how often Glenn Little is subbed makes you realise what a questionable statement you've just made.....

How would you explain why Seol gets into the starting X1 if there are so many better players than him ? Does Coppell have some odd policy of picking his best players to sit on the bench ?

robinsfriday Hasn't got the same spirit as say Hunt.

But then we don't say "if only Hunt had the skill of say Seol". Each player brings different things to the team. Seol is more skilful than Hunt. Hunt works harder than Seol. Comes out about the same in the end.

I've just had a thought. What about jacket potatoes, aren't they baked too?

Not to breakup the recipe talk, but I am with the pro-Seol crowd. As I have said before, he is one of our most creative players and often gets double-teamed by the opposition.

Regarding his lack of first team football. I know he had a clause in his contract where the team had to pay a bonus to his old club if he met a certain number of prem appearances. Can someone remind me of what that number was? Was that only tied to last years appearances? If Coppell saw fit to play him every game next season is there any financial penalties for the club?

I know it is ridiculous that Coppell would bench someone to save from paying a bonus, but I think it worked out nicely last year that Little was playing so well that Coppell was able to bench Seol. It worked on two levels, it saved the club the bonus money, but more importantly, it sent Seol a message he needed to work harder (which he acknowledged) to get more first team appearances. I think his appearances after the Little injury (and even in the cup games before Little got hurt) showed that Seol was working harder and tracking back more.

I am glad we have him and hope he continues to improve.

Now that is a good post.

Seol is a useful player to have, if he can pick up his workrate and confidence so he tackles back and hastles a bit better when we don't have the ball. And when we do if he could show a bit more urgency and either try and take on his man and beat him, or make a simple lay off and run rather than taking all the pace out of our attack by wandering towards the defender and then crossing it straight at his hip.

Not sure if any of our wingers are really of the quality/have all the attributes we need, but we do have 4-5 who are all at least nearly good enouhg... which will do for mid table.

Surely he only "half won" us the game at Bramall Lane?

This thread sums up nicely everything which is bad about HNA.

Grow up and get behind a player with good ability, one of our players.

Alan Partridge *slams head against table*

Reading fans in acting like retards shock with a couple of exceptions.

Nice to see that we agree on something!

Therefore, might I suggest that it's better to leave the retards to their pathetic observations about a subject they clearly know fcuk all about..............

Seol is similar to Lita. Great in patches but it's so bloody irritatingly obvious how he is going to lose possession or take the pace out of our moves most of the time.

It isn't just Hunt's workrate that makes him worth 2 of Seol. His attitude, his running, his willingness to go where it hurts, his constant pressurising of opponents makes his contribution to the success of the team far far greater than Seol's.

Hunt gets himself in positions to put in more dangerous balls than Seol because of his workrate. The fact that Seol's final ball is, on balance, probably slightly better than Hunt's, is negated by the fact that he doesn't get into as many dangerous areas as Hunt.

Hunt's tackling and chasing back, his lung bursting runs out of defence at top pace create far more goal-scoring opportunities than Seol's superior final ball will produce because he's generally done it all too slowly so the defence has had time to get organised.

Seol is, as many people have said, a good player, and I will support him, frustrations and all, because he carries the hoops, but those who consider him even close to the equal of Hunt in all round contributions to the RFC cause, really are deluding themselves.
