I think you're doing her a disservice - she's saying that WC should sort its own problems out first before complaining aout something that has yet to happen.

The 17 Bus
Fuming Kathryn Long said parking in Earley was so bad sometimes she could not even get her car out of the drive.

The mum-of-three thought the problem was specific to her road – Beech Lane –

well I drive along Beech Lane most days and there is very little street parking, I suppose at Xmas the houses with all the lights might add some problems, but hardly relevant in this case.

FUMING!!!!!

Probably a Chelski Tractor that she can't reverse between the gate posts.

How on earth can the council consider the stadium planning application tonight !
Anyone on the council with any interest in football will be at home watching the game !

Bosses at the club want to increase its capacity from 24,045 to 38,000.

Again they can't get the capacity of the stadium right. 24,122 against Villa being our biggest home attendance of the season.

There may well be a difference between the seated capacity and the number of people who can attend a game.
Hospitality being the variable - I think you can get more people in each box than there are seats outside the box.

I am surprised it has been granted, and now the gamble will go ahead. I just hope the club have thought long and hard about the possible reprocutions if things don't go so well.

Like What?

You can bet your life they've spent hour upon hour contemplating what might happen without this essential expansion taking place :?

We are full every week and can't compete on equal terms with most of our rivals in such a small ground but STILL we have fans who won't break out of that "Little Reading" box they crawled into years ago!

If Elland Road can host League One next season we could live with 38k in the Championship if we had to. What we can't sustain is Premiership football in a 24k Stadium.

This is no gamble, it's the next logical step and I'm delighted!

Great news, full credit to Madejski for refusing to stand still and pushing the club forward.

The only trouble will be the 14,000 extra new fans. They won't be proper fans, just new fans who will be fickle and have a poor knowledge of football. It will mean the club has gone from an average of about 9,000 in 98 to possibly 35,000 in just 10 years.

Has a clubs gates ever risen so dramatically in so few years?

Not really, they used to average 40,000 plus even when they went years without winning the league.

Their gates haven't even doubled.

Reading's will have risen by 288% if they do indeed go from 9,000 to 35,000.

Incredible isn't it. Makes you think where have they all come from. Of course most went to elm park and tht will be the defence when questioned.
Apparently "people are allowed to show support in differant ways" according to msot nobbers, so expect more light ripples of applause when goals are scored next season.

Never will we see a celebration to rival the wigan play-off game these days, not with the lack of passion displayed by the modern support.

Not sure about 38k. Personally I would like to see the capacity go up by 6-7k, if we can fill the then 30k or so regularly then push on with the rest.

I am loving seeing the Madejski full week in week out, I spent years watching with empty blue seats everywhere. Don't want to go back to that just yet.

Given that the playoff game was a sell -out, there must have been a bit of that "modern support" there that night, wouldn't you say?
