Do Scotland owe us?

by purleyroyal » 02 May 2007 13:39

Given (not Shay!) that Newcastle are demanding compensation from the FA for Michael Owen's injury, does anyone know if we are in discussion with the Scottish FA about Murty's?

Especially as he's now going to be out for the rest of the season.

Training injury wasn't so just as likely to happen had he been at the club - totally different situation, so no not really.

I would imagine any existing player insurance may be in force anyway.

And Michael Owen is on bigger wages and was out for a much longer period. Therefore Newcastle felt aggrieved that for their outlay they were getting little return.

Newcastle also had to pay in excess of £150,000 medical bills for Owen's injury. He also cost them £16 million.

Murty's injury was sustained while training at RFC - he's done the bit of bone between two of his metatarsals. It was always going to be close to a season ender. When he did it, he then had a massive injection to numb it to play the week before international weekend before going away with the squad. He did that because he didn't want to miss another international call-up. It then became clear that he wasn't up to playing at all without regular, highly painful injections and that he was simply holding up his return.

So, no.
