One thing that some on here might have missed - Blackburn are away at Spurs at 8pm on the thursday night before they play us. Can only be a good thing for us IMO.

I really hope coppell plays the strongest side for the remainding games. I will be devastated if he genuinly tries to avoid europe. I would rather risk a push at europe and take a chance on doing shit in it next season than be a mid-table nothing club for eternity. PLEASE COPPELL GO FOR IT.

He said he will continue to tinker with the team till the end of the season.

Steve Coppell Coming to the end of the season, we have a different agenda. It's not just about winning. We certainly want to win, 100%, but there are other situations to consider.
We need to develop what we're going to do for next season so there's a balancing act for us. We'll look at combinations. It's an opportunity to answer questions such as 'what's he like playing with him' and how people cope physically. There won't be massive changes, just tinkering.
There is absolutely no way we've lost any focus. If anything, the changes we make are putting demands on the players who come in, they have to be at the top of their game. We have a squad of 20 players who can interchange, so it's hard to say our best eleven on any given day.

We'll fall just short of 7th. Anyone who expects us to score against Watford let alone beat them is an extreme optimist.

My biggest worry is that I've bought a ticket and we could end up with a worse game than the Fulham one.

Possibly worse than the away even?

You are not in for good game. They're relegated now so they'll relax and play a bit better. Still rubbish hoofball, but better.

This is the way I see it going

Everton 54 + 1 = 55
Man Utd home - L
Portsmouth home - D
Chelsea away - L

Bolton 54 + 4 = 58
Chelsea away - L
West Ham away - D
Villa home - W

Reading 51 + 7 = 58
Newcastle home - W
Watford home - W
Blackburn away - D

Spurs 50 + 8 = 58
Middlesbro' away - D
Charlton away - D
Blackburn home - W
Man City home - W

Pompy 49 + 2 = 51
Aston Villa away - D
Liverpool home - L
Everton away - D
Arsenal home - L

So Spurs 5th, Reading 6th, Bolton 7th - all on GD.

That's actually the game I'm worried about. They're down and bottom so have nothing to worry about. Having said that they may try and come out to play a bit more which could play into our hands.

Looking those run ins, us and Spurs have by far the easiest. Everton and Pompey have shockers!

The fact that Everton and Pompey have to play each other also really opens up 7th place at the very least.

Using the bbc predictor I saw us picking up 5 more points but still only finishing 8th on 56, with Spurs and Bolton taking the two places on 58.

I had us 8th on goal diff behind Spurs, Bolton and Everton. Coppell's dream scenario probably but not mine!

Just done the BBC predictor and I've got something very similar - Everton, Reading and Spurs in 5th, 6th and 7th all on goal difference, Bolton just a point behind.

Mr Angry - are you sure you've got Spuds and Reading the right way round - we're currently 7 goals ahead of them so they'd have to tonk Blackburn and Man City by a minumum of 8 goals between them to overtake us on goals scored....

Yeah - I typed them the wrong way round!

There is a strong possibility that 5th - 7th will all finish on equal points, which would be pretty amazing!

You can cut this a hundred different ways but what we're all agreed is that it's going to be oxf*rd close and most likely goal difference will come into play.
