Can we reach 5th? - yes
Will we? - No

Is that a disappointment? No - any finish this season was already bound to be the best in the club's history. Wherever we finish now will be way beyond my expectations, frankly.

M4 Junction 11 This is the way I see it going -

Everton 54 + 4 = 58
Man Utd home - D
Portsmouth home - W
Chelsea away - L

Bolton 54 + 4 = 58
Chelsea away - L
West Ham away - D
Villa home - W

Reading 51 + 7 = 58
Newcastle home - W
Watford home - W
Blackburn away - D

Spurs 50 + 12 = 62
Middlesbro' away - W
Charlton away - W
Blackburn home - W
Man City home - W

Pompy 49 + 2 = 51
Aston Villa away - D
Liverpool home - D
Everton away - L
Arsenal home - L

Thats how i see it...

Interesting...

So tell me How do Everton beat Portsmouth at home... but Porstmouth win away at Everton?

I'm definately not getting me hopes up over your predictions :D

What this would mean in points - Spurs > Everton > Reading (on goal difference). I've made the Everton/Pompy game a home win.

Yes - though I changed my mind in any event and gave the Everton/Pompy game a home win which makes it even tighter.

Chaney ...for a club our size to finish above every other team except the big 4 it would go down as the biggest achievement in our our history

A guaranteed finish of no lower than 13th in the First Division is already the biggest achievement in our our history...

Surely the financial benefits will push Coppell and the team on to finish as high as possible. £500.000 a place is a pretty big plus for a club like Reading.

Y21_Royal
Niko
Y21_Royal There's no way Sir Steve will let us finish higher 8th. I'm certain he'll field a v experimental team against Watford and he'll go all out to avoid Europe.

what a load of rubbish, i'm sure he wants us to finish as high as possible. he might not want us to get into europe just yet but i can't see him swapping the team around too much. don't the rules state a team has to field it's strongest possible side anyway?

He's already changing the team around! No Harper today for the first time this season, no Sidwell last week, Seol returning to the side, De La Cruz staying in ahead of Halford. I think Coppell is genuinely against us reaching Europe.

Don't seem to be working then! 1-0 Fulham 3-1 Bolton

Coppell Out!

AJ~ We'll finish in 8th place behind Everton, missing out on a UEFA Cup spot to them on goal difference. Blackburn to take the Intertoto spot (that we've turned down) ahead of Portsmouth. You heard it here first.

it can all be pretty confusing, we are going out to win every game but SC is adamant we dont need european football yet, what happens if we do finish 7th?
I really dont want us risk our future in the top flight future by committing ourselves to something we cant handle yet.

IMO the next two home games are crucial, it's all good winning away at Bolton but you have to make sure you beat two poor away teams at home.

We defineately have a good chance of finishing top 7 with everton having such a hard run in to the season which would be alright. Surely next season coppell would have been looking to do better in one of the cups and i would prefer it to be the uefa cup. Also it would mean sidwell might stay and we could atract a higher calibre of player.

Big Ern This is how I see things pannng out

Reading 51 + 7 = 57
Newcastle home - W
Watford home - W
Blackburn away - L

If that's precisely how it comes out, then I'm going to buy the Club, rename the ground BigErnArena, and then hand over complete and total control of the entire thing to you, free and clear --and, as a bonus, I'll even pay your taxes for the first three years.

Scratch that --make it the first five.

We owe them one and their season will be over by the last game
