I think Seol not being on the bench gives an impression of the current pecking order for me. Oster's sub appearances have warranted a start in the absence of Little, with Seol and Halford on the bench if Murty isn't fit,

Doyle, Long or Gunnarsson playing on the right would just be taking the p!ss to be honest.

aaronrfc there is an arguement for playing seol, oster or halford. personally, i think oster deserves first shot at it, because hes the one whos been performing when hes come on recently. however at the end of the day, im not gonna question SSC whoever he plays there. they are all decent replacements on their day

I think he'll play Oster.

Dreadful news - Oster deserves his chance and I hope he does well, but I fear this'll have a huge impact on our finishing position this season with Convey also out and Hunt playing poorly at the moment. Our midfield has been severely weakened.

I've wanted to see Oster get a decent run in the team for ages now.

He's worked his socks off and impressed me coming on from the bench.

If he gets his chance, he could well end up staying here at the end of the season. Which I personally would like to see.

Could this not be considered a blessing in disguise? What with safety already assured and a recent downturn in results making European qualification less likely by the week, we have less 'need' to play our first choice players, and Oster gets the chance he so craves to see if he can make a place in the team his own.

Spot on. I really hope he doesn't play Doyle on the wing again.

Likely outcome is we become a lot harder to beat, but maybe find it harder to win games.

Playing 4-2-4 in the Prem has been a huge gamble that has worked, I suspect a 4-4-2 will be a more pragmatic approach and give us a solid end to the season....

In a strange sort of way, I'm pleased with this news. I was getting concerned, after his last couple of performances, that he was losing some of his magic. Nice to see there was a good reason for it.

FWIW, Oster would be my choice of replacement.

SpaceCruiser Seol deserves his chance.

Why does he deserve his chance. From his recent displays he doesn't deserve anything. If comes off the bench and plays well, then maybe there is an arguement for him to play.

He's wasted there. Hunt was poor on Sunday (like the rest of midfield) but I'd still start him, he'll be well up for a dual against Finnan.

I'd rather play Doyle and Lita up front. Liverpool are more than capable of dealing with long balls, much better to test them with some pace and trickery.

Just as long as we don't try and give Liverpool too much space and respect, like we did at Anfield (and like PSV tried to as well).

Unforgivable to let Hyppia dribble from one area to the other unchallenged.

Brighton Royal I would prefer Seol to Oster. He is a class act and just needs a kick up the backside to prove it.

Maybe a spot of booing may help motivate him?

FTR, I think Halford should play on the right, as I don't rate Oster much. Then what do I know.. I never go to games anymore...

Sharpy
Tilehurst End Doyle and Long can both play down the right as can Gunnarson.

rubbish doyle is no winger

basically ended up on the wing away to villa after lita got subbed.
played really well but with no support.

I trust Doyle to play well anywhere

Why ?
It seemed to work a treat, he'd dribble 50 yards and then give us the ball back....

Because we're rubbish at defending from the back - far better policy to defend from the front.

But with Hyppia bringing the ball up we didn't need to defend !

I'd much rather he brought it 50 yards then knocked it off for a goal kick than we pressed him, he played it to Gerrard and they attacked properly...
