Boris Johnson tips Coppell as England manager

by Cripple Creek » 04 Apr 2007 03:25

Sorry if this has already been posted but I just thought I'd pass it on just in case. In the latest edition of the international weekly Daily Telegraph Bozzer Johnson has written a piece slagging off the England football establishment for being extremely thick and uneducated. He points particularly to the fact that players like Thierre Henry are far more articulate in what is a second language than most of their English peers. It's quite a good piece actually but towards the end he bemoans the fact that there aren't more people in English football like Coppell who he describes as highly intelligent and says the best thing the FA could do would be to make him England manager.

the best thing they can do is make him England manage

Does`t Steve get a say in it then?
with the constant scrutiny the job get from the media its pretty unlikely he would accept the job even if approached

Apparently Boris has also slagged off Portsmouth (the place, not the club) so it looks like he talks great sense!

Although I think Coppell would be an excellent job I think he is brighter than to take the poison challis laced with over paid egos.
They should give Boris the job.At least the games would be entertaining .

He wouldn't take the job in a million years, for all the reasons so often discussed, but that doesn't change the fact that the FA dimwits should be begging him night and day to change his mind.

As ever, I'm proud of our MP

For any newbies (?) I apologise for the tedious remarks about the Sheffield United manager.

Better than your grasp of French I suspect! And A French accent hardly means he isn't articulate.

He doesn't say he is super-articulate, just more articulate than the England squad saying, 'It was a wicked match, innit, like, aaaaaiiii, check me, blood, naaaaahmean?'

On the contrary Coppell would have a chance to achieve something great with England, and go into English football folklore, I think he'd take it.

My son told me the other day that MClaren had resigned and that Coppell was the front runner to replace him. I was completely gutted.

Didn't realise it was April 1st

Coppell has gone on record and said he has no interest in it. The way he spoke about it in a fans forum last year was pretty conclusive as well. He won't consider it.
