Everton view from local Liverpool newspaper

by Slinky » 12 Jan 2007 11:04

Just picked up the Liverpool Daily Post and all the main stories are about Cahill's return etc etc However there is one column that they have every week by a Everton Supporter (they also have a Reds column to prevent rioting). Todays column includes the following comment, and I quote:

"Everton players need to ensure they at least take points off the likes of Reading, who we have already seen are quite poor despite the hype"

Now let me guess, the only time he's watched Reading (who have been top 10 all season and taking points from the BIG 2) was against Everton at our place when admittedly we were poor!!

I'm at the ready to send him a repsonse come Sunday night (hopefully!).

You know full well that Coppell will take that and stick it to the dressing room wall, as he did with Martin Jol's

"When you lose to a team like Reading you know you're in trouble".

What "hype" would this be - if anything, we are the least "hyped up" of the three promoted teams

To be fair though, why else would he have watched us. Unless you count MOTD, which we are all pretty much agreed doesn't accurately reflect the games most of the time.

We can't have it every way.

To be fair if he hasn't watched us then how can he come out with such tripe!?!?!

Why do people keep moaning when we get under-estimated?

As far as I'm concerned every other club and fan in the world can under-estimate us all the time - it makes us so much more likely to beat them, and it's so much sweeter when we do.

What would you prefer ? "Oh god, we're playing Reading, we'll need to be on the top of our game" rather than "Reading? Easy, we just have to turn up to win..."

A quote in a paper from a biased supporter? I doubt it.

Well to be fair, we were absolutely shite when we played against them earlier in the season so they haven't exactly seen us at anywhere near our best.

Arteta will be a massive miss for them tomorrow, Lita looked bright when he came on against the toffees at home and he will be starting on sunday so i reckon it will be a different game. 1-1

I don't see this should bother us at all. It would be different if it was being said publicly by Moyes or an Everton player. Everton should expect to beat us at home.

Well there you go then, if we play like that we'll lose again.

Seriously, we need to get over what is or is not said about us in the press..

That kind of comment will be on the dressing room wall on Sunday... that's about all it's good for...
