Archie's penalty
Once were Biscuitmen As long as Zamora has not become a fully fledged member of the West Ham, lazy Bling-bling club he would be a good buy.

I think that's the crucial point - Zamora is I think a bit of a flashy Oxf*rd. Would he accept being on the bench at Reading? - we don't want a troublemaker in the serene waters of Coppell FC. Saying that the reason he's flashy may be the crowd he hangs around with at the Sham. Maybe our boring (but nice) lot'll make him chill out.

Don't think he does hang about with the bling bling crowd at the Hammers - his best mate is Sidwell who is hardly in the dangerous crew category

Any way, as I said before, it would also be very nice to have his girlfriend Nicola Tappenden around the club - might go along to a few WAGs events then

I suspect that if we bring in just 1 or 2 players they'll be assimilated into "The Reading Way" (Copyright Steve Coppell) - any more in one go and we start to have the danger of a clique forming, but individual players should be fine.

I'd be more worried about a possible link up with Lita, someone with a bigger head and more bling bling than anyone at West Ham.

Certainly Lita is a better striker than any of them at West Ham currently.

That Friday Feeling Do we just forget the ball-boy thing?

It would stick in the craw a bit, but I guess that after seeing his second or third goal for us we'd somehow find a way of putting it to the back of our minds.

Agreed and just wait for Kitson's next injury and we are back to where we started. Leroy and Doyle are doing the business right now but we have nothing as back up to them if they are injured, out of form, tired, etc.

Zamora would be an ideal person as that target man, someone to hold the ball up and he's a decent goalscorer given the service.

Why is he?

Reading should be serious and be prepared to spend some money on quality players if they become available. I hardly think 5m on Upson is over the top. The only concern would be his long term fitness.

He's the best defender that I have seen play for Reading so far.

Exactly, he's got a proven record of injuries, also some of the clubs linked with him we simply can not compete with. It will never happen sadly.

Only British players?

A little racist methinks?

There's more foreigners in the current squad already so a strange policy.

i dont understand this, i know its probably true, but i dont understand

surely we have money to spend after coming up to one of the the richest leagues in the world, and having nearly assured our survival gained access to next years extra TV cash

was it 20 million for coming up last year, and 50 odd million for next year, plus the extra cash from more expensive tickets, plus the extra for having a full house each week

would it really be so silly to suggest a bid of 7 million for a player of upsons standard-shying away from players of his ability shows we are small time with a lower case S
or is big jon M just trying to get back everything he has ever spent before he sells up for a healthy profit?or is it for the ground extension?

Yes little Himmler Coppell's at it again.

He's only after players who know the Premiership/Championship at this time, not anyone from the Ligue1 yet.

Too true.

We might be willing to match the transfer fee, but would it be prudent to spend such a significant portion of our budget on one injury prone player? Probably not, as much as I think he'd be perfect for us.

With some of the names being touted about as potential rivals for his signature (Newcastle, Villa, Liverpool, even Chelsea) we're probably going to be out of the running.

Thats not to say we shouldn't make a cheeky bid, but realistically he's more than likely out of our reach right now.
