Royal Lady They played it yesterday and they played it last week. Anyone care to guess the common link to those two games?

Agreed.

Answer: we played rubbish and we lost. I rest my case!

Admittedly there were a couple of errors in defence, but if you consider what they played yesterday to be rubbish, then I thinkyou must be one of those people who don't consider we play well unless we win. I thought it (especially the second half) was a great improvement on last week's second half.

BTW I thought it was great to hear "Sweet Caroline" echoing round the ground. Perhaps the official site could post the words so that everybody knows the verse part. It would be nice to have our own anthem as well as "Cockles and Mussels.

floyd__streete Sweet Caroline does nothing for me. Let's have a burst of shall we? It's gloriously kitsch, the opposition won't know what to make of it and we can laugh in their confused little Premiership fat-cat faces and best of all for Reading supporters no words to join in with 8)
spot on

Sweet Caroline? wtf

I haven't had a pre-match roast dinner since we last won against Bolton. In over two years now whenever I've had a roast before a game we've gone on to win. Come on Mr. Madejski, offer me hospitality every week!

I stayed to watch the Blackburn team arrive, won't be doing that again especially as that was the only 2nd defeat I've seen.

Btw I've been going to at least half a dozen games for the last 4 years just before any "newbie" comments start coming my way!

Despite the fact you haven't quoted me properly there, I'd like to say that I don't expect us to win every game. I've been going long enough to know when we play well and when we don't. And the last two home games, were imvho where we played our most rubbish football.

Whilst reading through this post i was trying to think of words to use to describe how much i despise us singing this song, and believe me i came up with a fair few. It sounds pathetic when all that gets sung is 'sweet caroline, do do do' and then we stand there for 2mins waiting for it again!

HOWEVER........

Watching the link earlier in this thread and seeing how much it means to some of the players i'm slightly swayed towards keeping it!

Singing it after the match may be better though, then we get the best of both worlds. The players and fans get a sing-along, and we don't end up looking like a bunch of fairys to the opposition before kick-off!!!

The whole chorus should be sung. It's not really hard to remember the words, and it's the bit AFTER Sweet Caroline that means so much to the players:

Sweet Caroline (do do do)
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined (do do do)
To believe they never would

OK, I'll admit we played far from rubbish yesterday  I still HATE that song with a passion though and steadfastly refuse to sing it or do-do-do along to it. Thank you.

That's your opinion and you are perfectly entitled to it. I hate the Tom Hark with a passion, and after the 5th went in yesterday I looked around and couldn't see anyone NOT doing it... So I joined in. Felt like a complete twat though so didn't do it for the 6th.
