Championship strugglers Reading want to sign Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes and are prepared to pay £600,000 for the player, who joined the Terriers for half that amount from Ipswich in the summer.

So Hunddersfield are going to sell a player who has scored 13 goals this season to us for less than they paid for him.

Quality journalism. They could at least make it realistic.

Tripe.

Huddersfield paid us an intial £850,000 for him with quite a hefty sell on clause, so the chances of this being true are zero.

Trust me they paid more than £300k for him. The fee at the time was believed to be around £850k plus add-ons (that is from Ipswich and Huddersfield fans).

I expect us to make the odd signing and spend a bit of money, but I'm not sure I'd be anticipating £600k on a young striker being a realistic amount.

Interestingly I know a huddersfield fan who goes by the online alias of TomTheTerrier who reckons Rhodes is all luck and no substance. Doesn't rate him at all and thinks he adds very little. I think he might be right, don't assume just cos a player scores in L1 that they will score in champ. It is a massive step up in class.

So that link undermines the claim that they paid significantly more than 300k for him...

A reasonable interpretation would be that he cost 250k up front with significant add ons (presumably taking in appearances, goals, league position / promotion permutations) that might add another 600k on in several years time.

You might also expect there to be a sizeable sell on clause.

All of which makes little odds when I have never heard of him and have no idea whether 50p would be an excessive price to pay for him.

Surely we've not dropped anywhere given you've droned on for years about how we'll never spend a million on a player !

Yeah, it's a real shitter when you only commit £3.5m to transfer fees in a season. God I wish we were in one of the many many years where we spent more than that.

What a strange reply. Of course we've dropped, it's not long ago we were in the Premiership FFS, amd yet we were so tight fisted then too that it fuked us then as well..

Ian, where'd you get 3.5 from m8? Please don't fukin repeat yourself with the BS about Mills, because we've paid £1.1 so far. Unless you believe the fecking chairman and think we.are.going.up ffs

I haven't knocked what weve spent this season! Past seasons yes!! Rightly as well.
