Factual Rumour - James Henry to Spurs

by swickle09 » 23 Feb 2008 11:04

I work with a close friend of James and he will be moving to Spurs in the summer for 1 million, its a done deal. Fact not Fiction.

He's out of contract in the summer. I'd be surprised if compensation amounted to £1m.

Jay, you have no idea whatsoever what it would amount to. £1m actually sounds fairly accurate. I'm not saying it's true, just that you're spouting rubbish.

Why is £1m fairly accurate then?

The kid hasn't done anything outside of League 1 to warrant a valuation of a million pounds, let alone a compensation payment of £1m which suggests he's worth more than that.

If we get that then all the better, but I'd hope such a highly rated and valued player would be in contract negotiations instead of a compensation discussion.

Surely if he's out of contract in the Summer, Jay is correct in thinking that if this "factual rumour" whatever they are, is correct, then Spurs paying us £1million for him is a tad over the top.

Because of his age, we could offer him a new deal which would make us entitled to compo if he chooses to sign a deal with them.

Read this with interest especially as I spoke with one of Henry's family last night. I am reliably informed that this is a not 'factual'. Yes Spurs were after Henry when Jol was in charge, and may still be keeping tabs on him. But any move for him now is a non starter. Henry has sensibly been considering all his options while also discussing terms on a new deal. Apparently he is close to agreeing the new deal with RFC.

If Reading got a £1million then LOL @ Spurs.

Also just shows the persepctive of how much a million quid in football these days is really worth.

Lita signed for a 'lot of money'

Yeah loads, an 18 year old kid whose never played a minute of Premiership football is going to someone for a million.

Out of interest, how much would the estimated investment that RFC have made in James be since joining the acedamy, i agree that surely offering James a new contract with RFC would be a better idea, especialy as he is one of our rising stars, i assumed the whole point of the acedemy was to nuture rising stars and talent for the better future of RFC, not invest however much money and then sell them on, i think 1 million would be a fair reflection of the investment and the talent.

There isn't any "choice" available. If we want any compensation then we still have to offer him a new contract with at least equal terms to what he is currently on.

I can't imagine he's on a great deal, so wages are unlikely to be a problem for once.

Didn't he turn down Chelsea a year or two ago to stay with his beloved hometown club and rise to the heady heights with them...

£1m for a youngster who gets very good reviews and is on the books of a prem club and has played for his country in his age bracket wouldn't seem outlandish. Especially if the "deal" was done before he started to not sit on Norwich's bench.

Still balls though.

Norwich have dropped him and the fans up here don't rate him if that's any help.

Henry has signed a new two year deal.

At least that means they'll have to pay a bigger fee!!!
