Speculation - Church to Notts County

by Big Foot » 31 Aug 2011 12:57

1255: In Nottingham, Forest fans will be deeply concerned by a distinct lack of news but there is more excitement for the Notts Countyhalf, as BBC Radio Nottingham understands a striker is likely to be joining the Magpies later today.

Could be a good loan move for Simon Church to score some goals in the league below - wouldn't be surprised given Martin Allen's links with the club

Decent club, nice ground, shame he won't score many goals though.

If true a great move for club and player, let's hope he gets plenty of game time up there. Loan to January would also be good.

I disagree - from his point of view thats a terrible move; he would be better suited staying at RFC and fighting for his place. At this stage of his career, being loaned down to League 1 is a sign that the best of your career is behind you.

No it's not, he's third choice. He needs a long loan where he can get a run of games and get into the goal scoring habit. Not sending Shane Long on loan at Church's age is what slowed his development down.

??

Long is a Year older than Church; by that logic, Long should have been loaned out last season..........

I'm a year out, I thought church was still 21 going on 22 but he's actually turning 23 this year.

Long should have been going out on loan when Doyle and Hunt were first choice was the point I was trying to make.

Either way, he still needs games which he won't get here. He's behind Hunt Long Manset and Le Fondre.

He needs to go somewhere to prove himself.

I think the other issue I would have if I was Church is that he has already been loaned out before; Crewe, Yeovil, Wycombe and Orient.... he has served his loanee apprenticeship, and he is at the stage where he is either going to make it, or isn't.

He would be better served by being transferred and starting afresh (like Simon Cox).

Church needs to do something.. He started this season like he played all of last 2 touches each time the ball comes to him and the 2nd touch ends up with the opponent.

I believe he scored 1 goal last season. 2 if you include the one that he didnt touch against forest. That is piss poor form at any level.. He needs to go out and play at a level that he can find out where the goal is and then come back.
