Ian Royal Aha! So he was at Hull, I just didn't realise he'd gone. Doesn't look like he's pulled up trees since. Did alright at Gillingham, Brighton, Hull and not too bad at Wycombe so far. Based solely on win lose draw.

He's left pretty much every team in a shit state after taking over a team on the up

Wouldnt touch him with a barge poll

You mean Gillingham, Brighton and Hull were in a worse state after he'd taken them up than before
I bet Wycombe are really disappointed with him then. Have to admit that Palace and Leicester did even worse after he'd left though.

Alan Partridge He is woeful.

He's taken Hull to the Prem and kept them there. Can't be that bad.

Fine don't like the man or his style but calling him a woeful manager is idiocy of the highest order.

Hahahaha

No that post is idiocy of the highest order considering he's not been at Hull for around 3 YEARS.

I'd say being sacked by Stevenage was pretty woeful.

Having being top by miles and now looking like missing out on the top 3 altogether I don't imagine they'll be too happy right now. Also having took over at Stevenage last year and culminating with getting the sack having failed to make the playoffs was pretty bad, or howabout getting sacked at Palace in the job before?

If we got PEter Taylor, expect more weoful football, terrible signings and Junior Lewis.

I remember the Peter Taylor debates from a long time ago.

He seems to have this knack of taking over teams on the up, doing quite well with them for a bit and then screwing it all up.

I remember Southend and Dover fans hating him for his time in charge at their clubs, and he had a similar effect on Leicester too.

He's had plenty of short term success but doesn't seem to be able to stay around too long anywhere without it all going a bit wrong.

I remember him mainly from Gillingham where he did such an excellent job there were calls for him to take over the England job.

I think you'll find that was more on the back of his excellent work with the England U21's rather than the one season he was incharge at Gillingham before running off to Leicester.

Money and area shouldn't make much difference. Having said that, he still still lives in (or has a house in) Reading. He played for us and coached the kids here. He knows the club inside out and is part of the club. I would hope that alone would tempt him.

It'd be hard on Watford losing him, but I have to say, I hope we try and get him.

I rather think that news would be broken on the OS before the Mail. No quotes, just speculation and educated guess work in the hoping of looking like they were first with the news if it actually happens.

Isn't it quite common knowledge that SC wants a break- so will probably be out the door no matter what happens. What would be interesting would be do we want Brendan R if we get promoted or someone with a better pedigree? SC Reading Legend no matter what but we so badly need some new ideas. I wouldn't mind Gareth Southgate meself.

He left the club 4 and a half years ago !

He'll know virtually none of the first team and any of the youth players he was involved with will have changed significantly.

His connection is now somewhat tenuous, the only reason to appoint him would be if he was the best man for the job. In terms of knowledge of the club Dillon, Downes, Dolan, Bashir and a number of others would be better options. And some of those are no option.

Yes this is common knowledge, but we don't know if that's what will happen and the Daily Malice article reads as if they have confirmation direct from Coppell or the club, whilst forgetting to mention the source or make any quotes.

They're playing the percentages to look like they've got inside info and are first with the news.

Spoke to Brendans son today, and its highly unlikely he will be coming here next season.

Good, we don't want Brendon's son in charge!

Considering Brendan's only in his late 30s I doubt his son is aged more than 16 anyway?

Yes this is common knowledge,

Isn't it more like a common urban myth based on one comment made a long time ago ?

No it's not. Coppell had previously mentioned he fancied a break on numerous occasions. He felt he owed us something last summer and stayed on for one final season. It's all but certain he will take this break/retiremement this summer and go wish our best wishes.
