I'd Like someone with a little more pedigree than Parky for now thanks. Not that Coppell is going anywhere right now.
On the sort of wages JM offers? Who then? It wouldn't be a 'big' name.

I'd take the Swansea manager Martinez or Parky if we have to go the cheap ish route again.
It doesn't have to be a big name. Just someone who has managed a little more than Parky's one successful stint at Colchester followed by utter failure at Hull. A man that hasn't been a manager for how many seasons now? 2? Parky is only suggested because he has legend status as a player. It's a pipe dream until he can show a bit more that he has what it takes.
Damn!! Jimmy Quinn's just taken over at Bournemouth....

Parky? Please no. It rarely works with former players...and if it went tits up it would tarnish his legendary status at the club.

Big Sam anyone?

As someone who wasn't fully behind Coppell staying in the summer, the alternatives make you realise how lucky we are...

There's seriously no chance in hell of Coppell going anywhere, when he eventually leaves he'll be taking a break from football. For someone who doesn't like managing high maintanance players, I think West Ham would be one of the last places he'd want to go, especially as it looks like player power played a part in curbs quitting.

Listen, it's never going to happen. SC doesn't like pressure. He would be under enormous presure at West Ham,as, next to Newcastle they are the most deluded fans in the country. The really do think they should be a top 4 club. When things weren't going so well here he thought about walking. An ex client of mine plays golf with him occassionally & while he apparently doesn't talk footie when socialising, he did mention that the one side he didn't like was that it is hard to switch off & relax. Our club is a whole lot more relaxed than Wet Ham's. It won't appeal to him.

Also, he plays the loyalty card a lot. He has just spent the last month or so convincing players to stay, or at least giving them good reasons why they can't leave. He won't walk away for another club & let those players down.

Anyway, I suspect that they are lining up Keegan    That would be funny.

Heh. :)

This show of affection for Coppell is very touching. What a difference a few months make.

Too bad then that he's he in the final year of his deal...and (allegedly) didn't want to come back this season and had to be talked into it. :|

Coppell wont go until the end of season and when he does Eamon Dolan is already pencilled in by JM IMHO.

Very likely I agree. Risky, maybe. But he certainly knows the youngsters too and that I like. But can he take that step up.

Plus he's Irish. All we need is a rich Irishman to come along and buy the club too. New away kit all black with white sleeves and shoulders and sponsored by Guiness

Funny you should say that cause they served me with a Guiness the other day in the concourse when I asked for bitter. I thought that they did not understand my accent (Engish)! However may be part of a cunning plan.

Eamon was certainly highly thought of at Exeter although he only had a short spell in charge of the first team. I know Steve Perryman was very sorry to lose him. From what I saw of him when my son played for him at Exeter under 17 & 19 level I would say he has every chance of being a good manager at Championship level. Certainly worth a punt.

Coppell wont be tempted to jump ship unless it's one of the big 4 offering a top job on Coppell's terms.

Hopefully the numerous vacant premiership jobs that will be linked to Coppell during this season will remind some of us just who we have as a manager at our club... Respect SC

As the thing about football that SC hates most is the press, I think that going to one of the Big 5 - or England - would be the least likely thing to happen.

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Coppell's by far the best paid manager in the Championship. The parking lot crew saw to that....

we had a little vote, decided his wage, and sent this to madejski, with a post it note attached saying "sort this out now jon"

how will the coppell haters react if he does take us up this season, i dread to think
but at least the "oooo blame the car park crew" silliness will end

Knowing how much the fans would kick off it Coppell left, put him in a rather string negotiating position.

JM didn't want to lose a manager the fans clearly wanted him to keep.

Blame the parking crew? Not sure what that means. Sure there will be a whole thread about it if we lose our next game though.

If we go up, will the car park crew maybe claim some credit for it? Go on brendy, be honest.

Ah, but if things don't pan out, they don't won't want any criticism for it, right?

In other words, they want it both ways. Do you think that is 'silliness'?

thats not really how he, NH, JM, or anyone at the club says it happened though, at least not according to my spin!
says he was responsible for relegation, and offered to resign
comments from the fans and madejski were key in persuading him people wanted him to stay, which in the end he was delighted to.

the way you have spun it sounds like he was desperate to go, but begrudgingly accepted for one more year so as not to cause a big fuss.

I'm sure Alex McLeish, Paul Jewell and Mick McCarthy have something to say about that......
